Desde EuroBasque, nos comprometemos a seguir trabajando por la justicia social, la libertad, la democracia, la solidaridad y la diversidad impulsando una Europa federal.En el siglo XXI debemos ser, de nuevo, impulsores de una Europa capaz de sustituir los miedos por esperanzas y los desafíos globales por soluciones comunitarias.Deseamos una Europa federal abierta al mundo, que asuma su responsabilidad hacia los pueblos menos favorecidos y cuyo fundamento sea la ciudadanía europea. Y reafirmamos nuestra apuesta por una unión cada vez más estrecha entre los pueblos de Europa. Queremos una Europa que otorgue un protagonismo real, tanto a las personas, como a las comunidades naturales que, como Euskadi conforman esa realidad plural y diversa que es Europa.Es vital incorporar las regiones y el federalismo a la reflexión general sobre el futuro de la Unión que se está produciendo en las distintas arenas de la gobernanza multinivel europea, igualmente, conviene revisar hasta qué punto la propia Unión Europea puede considerarse una federación sui generis. Las regiones son claves en la arquitectura institucional europea, y es un momento adecuado para hacer balance.Este libro pretende contribuir en el debate sobre este tema, así como divulgar los resultados del trabajo de investigadores e investigadoras procedentes tanto de nuestro entorno local como entorno global.
