Durante sus investigaciones, entran en contacto con la misteriosa familia Albaterra, En medio de una trama en la que no está claro quién es amigo, ni quien rival o enemigo, Lucas y Sonia tratan de descifrar, en una carrera contra el reloj, el inimaginable secreto que esconde la daga. Para ello se apoyan en el lenguaje de los antiguos artesanos y en la tradición oral de la enigmática familia que, como en una partida de póker, nunca saben si está destinada a ayudarles o a confundirles.
