Al dar a publicidad esta nueva edición de La Doctrina Secreta de H. P. Blavatsky, y con el propósito de que la misma tenga la jerarquía que merece una obra de tanta trascendencia, le hemos incorporado algunos materiales no incluidos hasta ahora en otras ediciones en castellano, los cuales comprenden: un Índice, gráficos mejorados y pequeñas faltas como “estudiantes indios” a “estudiantes hindúes”. Inspirándonos en el ejemplo de la que fue y es aún nuestro Maestro, H. P. Blavatsky, y accediendo a los repetidos ruegos de los teósofos de España y América que no conocen el inglés, determinamos emprender la tarea de la traducción y publicación de esta obra capital de Teosofía. Al comprometernos a llevar a cabo tal empresa, creíamos tener mucho adelantado con lo que de ella dejó traducido nuestro inolvidable Presidente, D. Francisco de Montoliu y de Togores; pero publicada ya la tercera edición inglesa, a la cual debíamos ajustar nuestro trabajo, nos encontramos con que la corrección y arreglo de lo ya traducido (que lo estaba de la segunda edición), implicaba una labor más prolija que el de una nueva traducción; por cuyo motivo, la aparición de esta obra ha tenido lugar más tarde de lo que habíamos calculado. Ahora bien, siendo esta obra puramente de estudio, o de meditación más bien; un libro completamente ocultista, que dice poco a la inteligencia y todo a la intuición del asiduo estudiante de la metafísica más trascendental y profunda que ha visto la luz pública en los tiempos modernos, no era posible traducir estos volúmenes tan libremente como una obra ordinaria y menos aún hacer primores de literatura, tanto por no prestarse a ello la índole de su contenido, como por no poseer sus traductores el dominio del hermoso idioma castellano, que para ello se hubiera requerido. Así pues, comprendiendo lo delicado y difícil de la tarea, y haciéndonos cargo de que la libertad más ligera podía desnaturalizar si no el pensamiento aparente, sí el sentido oculto que encubren casi todas las frases de esta obra, cuyo inmenso valor sólo pueden apreciar pocos ocultistas avanzados, nos hemos ceñido a la traducción más literal, compatible con la claridad del lenguaje. Por tanto, no espere el lector encontrar en esta traducción galas literarias, sino una interpretación tan fiel y tan clara como sea posible de conceptos que encubren los misterios más profundos, las verdades ocultas más trascendentales, a menudo expresadas con frase obscura, en la mayoría de los casos con pensamientos truncados en el punto más importante para completarlos después de algunas o muchas páginas que tratan de otros asuntos; método eminentemente oriental para que sólo la intuición pueda penetrar ciertos misterios. Esta circunstancia ha hecho necesaria la formación de un índice tan minucioso y detallado, que contiene más palabras que cualquiera de los seis volúmenes de esta obra, con el cual se facilita el estudio a los infatigables investigadores que ansían alcanzar vislumbres de las grandes verdades que encierra.
