La enseñanza de la ética a través Regla de Oro nos invita a pensar desde una nueva perspectiva los desafíos que enfrentan hoy las escuelas secundarias, instituciones concebidas como selectivas y expulsivas pero que hoy necesitan incluir a todos los jóvenes. Lejos de llevarnos a la convivencia armónica que imaginó Rousseau, el proyecto de la Modernidad, con su promesa de democracia creciente, nos ha traído a un presente donde las desintegraciones se manifiestan en la violencia social y en la interioridad de las personas. Frente a esta crisis, algunos miran con nostalgia un pasado donde los conflictos se resolvían desde el llamado paradigma punitivista que en apariencia posibilitaba escuelas más ordenadas. La autora, en cambio, piensa que la salida es hacia un futuro con más y mejor democracia. Y de la mano de Paul Ricoeur y de Silo afirma que un camino es practicar y enseñar la Regla de Oro: "Trata a los demás como quieres que te traten"; un principio que los filósofos encuentran, no inventan. A pesar de que algunos ven a esta regla como ingenua -un trivial dicho, al decir de Kant-, en la argumentación expuesta a lo largo del trabajo se mostró cómo la obediencia a la Regla de Oro es un camino ético que borra la distancia entre la obediencia externa (que caracteriza a la personalidad autoritaria que posibilitó Auschwitz) y la obediencia a lo mejor del sí mismo. Y, desde su experiencia desde adentro de las instituciones y del testimonio que surge de las entrevistas analizadas, la autora nos muestra el potencial que tienen las escuelas secundarias para contribuir a una sociedad más democrática y más justa. Una obra que contribuye a repensar el trabajo para la buena convivencia en las escuelas pero también en otras organizaciones o instituciones.
