Un paradigma processuale che, a differenza delle teorie strutturali a orientamento intrapsichico, non occlude il campo osservativo e affronta ogni situazione clinica senza prescrizioni o proscrizioni. Rinunciare alla linearità che presupponevano visioni generalizzanti della cura e dei suoi esiti significa per Bacal rendere più inclusiva la prospettiva teorico-clinica, con lo scopo di concettualizzare esplicitamente – attraverso la «forza della specificità» – il modo in cui i migliori terapeuti hanno sempre lavorato.

Borderline Personality disorder is a severe personality dysfunction characterized by behavioural features such as impulsivity, identity disturbance, suicidal behaviour, emptiness, and intense and unstable relationships.
