Questo libro, ispirato dal pensiero di Giacomo Becattini, riflette sul perché le comunità locali continuino ad esistere e a diffondersi. Perché il pianeta non diventa un unico luogo privo di frontiere? Perché invece noi umani ci raggruppiamo preferibilmente in comunità né ‘troppo ampie’, né ‘troppo ristrette’? Che cosa connota la forma odierna di comunità? Perché queste comunità si radicano in luoghi? Che cosa vi è di peculiarmente ‘locale’ nei luoghi? Assieme a Becattini, rispondiamo che il fondamento delle comunità locali è la cultura sociale. Nelle sue dimensioni materiali e simboliche, la cultura sociale anima varie forme di prossimità tra le persone e tra i gruppi: oltre alla prossimità territoriale, contano molto la prossimità sociale (anche online) e quella istituzionale. Ciò implica che oggi una comunità locale non è soltanto un luogo nel quale la cultura sociale ci fa stare fisicamente vicini, bensì in cui si intersecano almeno alcune delle maggiori forme di prossimità.

This book discusses the challenges faced by the homo resaliens and his need for a transition to a more sustainable social, economic, and environmental system. It fills a gap in the existing literature and provides a new perspective by changing the etymology of the word resilience: no more resiliere, but resalio. By comparing and analysing the relevant literature, the author has coined the term homo resaliens (resilient man), in contrast to the failure of the homo oeconomicus, the corruption of the homo politicus, the incompleteness of homo sustinens, and the limits of homo ecologicus. Opening a new debate in which the role of academia and res publica are fundamental to safeguard human communities and future generations, this book will greatly assist governments that wish to understand the socio-political and economic implication of resilience in terms of social inclusiveness and long term social and environmental sustainability.

In the late Middle Ages, Italy was one of the most urbanized areas in Europe. Its coasts, the Apennines, the perialpine area and the plains were all home to a large number of smaller towns, lands, villages, castra, and 'quasi cites'. These settlements were all very diverse in terms of demographic consistency, social articulation and economic dynamism, but together they constituted a characteristic and constitutive element of the Italian historical identity: an 'original personality'. This volume, thanks to some framing essays and a mapping of individual cases involving most of the northern, central and southern regions, aims at investigating the active research on this topic over the last thirty to forty years.

Wie viele bis jetzt zu wenig beachtete Urkunden bestätigen, bildete sich im Spätmittelalter ein transmediterranes Netzwerk von Heiligen Orten, die insbesondere von Seefahrern besucht wurden und deren Verehrungswürdigkeit mit ihrer Lage am symbolischen Treffpunkt zwischen den Dimensionen Wasser, Erde und Himmel direkt zusammenhing. This research focusses attention on the social-demographic, agricultural and tourist aspects of the 29 municipalities of the Molise Region, in order to provide new elements and details in a distributive and diachronic analysis and underline the link between new data and old problems which require collective actions to reach common purposes and to enhance the local resources according to the different vocations. After the examination of numerous statistical data which are also represented through GIS elaborations, quality of products and processes, multi-functional and inter-sectorial relationships, fast and slow scenarios, new or renewed forms of tourism accommodation, internet and tourist social technologies, social agriculture and neo-agrarianism, slow and creative tourism, the high environmental quality, enriched by historical and cultural heritage, become some of the keywords around which the geographical analysis is conducted. The present study seeks both to provide useful input for a meticulous and weighted planning, according to a resource-based approach, and to define a reference framework for people who are no longer live in Molise Region and Italy, but who are still emotionally attached to their native lands and keep alive the memories for their origins or for the origins of their parents.
