Se c'è un autore fuoriformato è Amelia Rosselli. Non solo appaiono eccessive la tragicità della sua biografia e l'altezza della sua opera poetica ("documento", entrambe, delle angosce e dei terrori del Secolo Breve); anche da un punto di vista tecnicamente editoriale l'opera rosselliana prescrive condizioni estreme. L'unico in grado di soddisfarle fu Alberto Mondadori: che pubblicò dal Saggiatore l'opera seconda, Serie Ospedaliera, seguendo scrupolosamente i dettami dell'autrice. Nel riprendere quel formato, il volume rappresenta un omaggio non solo all'autrice, ma anche a una civiltà editoriale d'altri tempi. C'è anche un documentario in dvd, realizzato da Rosaria Lo Russo e Stella Savino, che ripercorre l'esistenza di Amelia Rosselli ricorrendo alle sue interviste e ai suoi storici reading, e un cd audio che riporta una lettura integrale del poemetto La libellula da parte della stessa Rosaria Lo Russo. Nel volume figurano, accompagnati da saggi critici e da una biografia per immagini commentata dal cugino Aldo, molti testi inediti e dispersi, in versi e in prosa e in italiano e in inglese, rintracciati nell'ultimo periodo e qui restaurati e commentati da studiosi delle ultime generazioni. Viene per esempio ricostruito, con dovizia di documenti, il rapporto con lo psicanalista Ernst Bernhard; e si presenta una ricca scelta della sinora del tutto sconosciuta opera grafico-pittorica della poetessa.

Through a series of original analyses of experimental works that exist well outside of the established territory inhabited by the Italian literary canon, or which purposely position themselves at its margins, this volume proposes a new way to understand the goals of literary experimentation as a means to break the canon and give literature the same freedom that is easily granted to other arts. This serves to allow literature itself to intersect with those other art forms, while enhancing the powerful and positive outcomes of literary experimentation. Specifically, the volume explores a series of 20th- and 21st-century Italian works that are characterized by a non-normative approach to language or the act of writing itself. The contributors, while addressing diverse writers, and often even adopting different theoretical interpretations of experimentalism itself, all analyze the intersection between experimental literatures and other art forms, as well as cross-disciplinary and non-traditional approaches to the theme of experimentation.

A musician, musicologist, and self-defined “poet of research,” Amelia Rosselli (1930–96) was one of the most important poets to emerge from Europe in the aftermath of World War II. Following a childhood and adolescence spent in exile from Fascist Italy between France, England, and the United States, Rosselli was driven to express the hopes and devastations of the postwar epoch through her demanding and defamiliarizing lines. Rosselli’s trilingual body of work synthesizes a hybrid literary heritage stretching from Dante and the troubadours through Ezra Pound and John Berryman, in which playful inventions across Italian, English, and French coexist with unadorned social critique. In a period dominated by the confessional mode, Rosselli aspired to compose stanzas characterized by a new objectivity and collective orientation, “where the I is the public, where the I is things, where the I is the things that happen.” Having chosen Italy as an “ideal fatherland,” Rosselli wrote searching and often discomposing verse that redefined the domain of Italian poetics and, in the process, irrevocably changed the Italian language. Il volume esplora le trasfi gurazioni del soggetto lirico femminile nella seconda metà del Novecento, in contrasto con le interpretazioni del testo inteso come rispecchiamento fedele dell’inquieto vissuto autoriale. Addentrandosi negli universi letterari di una triade esemplare di autrici – Amelia Rosselli, Sylvia Plath e Alejandra Pizarnik – lo studio problematizza alcune visioni ermeneutiche elaborate in seno ai gender studies, per comprendere come si esercita la funzione autoriale nella cesura fra la scrittrice e l’Io testuale. Dall’analisi emerge la prospettiva di una profonda aporia che investe lo statuto fantasmatico del soggetto: le poetesse giocano con una performance di autenticità che sfocia nell’impasse epistemologica, non distinguendo più tra reale e fi ttizio. Rifuggendo le sabbie mobili del biografi smo, il libro propone di sganciare l’Io poetico femminile dal monadismo introspettivo della prima persona, per concepirlo invece come una fi gura in continua diffrazione entro i confi ni del testo.

Una nuova definizione del soggetto femminile – insegnano gli studi di Rosi Braidotti – parte dalla destabilizzazione di un concetto universale e universalistico di identità intesa come qualcosa di fisso e immutabile.
