Este libro se propone presentar una idea con dos partes o dimensiones. La primera sostiene que la puesta en práctica de la filosofía con pretensiones educativas –esto es, el encuentro, bajo el nombre de “filosofía”, entre dos pensamientos (el de quien ocupa la posición de enseñante y el que habita el espacio del aprendiz)– es un encuentro necesariamente paradójico, imposible. La segunda sostiene que esa condición, lejos de ser un impedimento o una falta de estímulo para su práctica, se constituye en una potencia y una fuente de inspiración permanente para pensar el sentido de la filosofía en la educación. Uno de los propósitos principales de este trabajo es estimular el pensamiento del lector –presumiblemente profesor o estudiante de filosofía, o más ampliamente, profesor o estudiante interesado en la dimensión filosófica de la enseñanza– sobre esa necesidad imposible y lo que puede generarse a partir de ella. Walter Kohan es profesor titular de la Universidad del Estado de Río de Janeiro (Brasil). Ha publicado libros, capítulos de libros y numerosos artículos en Argentina y el exterior sobre temas de enseñanza de la filosofía y filosofía de la educación. Realizó estudios de posdoctorado en la Universidad de París VIII y es actualmente investigador del Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones (CNPq) y de la Fundación de Apoyo a la Investigación de Río de Janeiro (PRÓ-CIÊNCIA/FAPERJ), en Brasil.
