« Aujourd’hui, de nombreuses organisations travaillent sur des projets et, pour qu’un projet réussisse, il faut instaurer la gestion des risques dans l’activité de l’entreprise. De nature, les projets sont risqués et chaque organisation doit s’efforcer d’avoir un processus efficace de gestion des risques de projet afin de cerner et de gérer les risques. L’approche traditionnelle de la gestion des risques des projets met l’accent sur l’identification et la gestion des menaces, en mettant principalement l’accent sur les effets négatifs des risques. À ce jour, certaines normes de référence, telles que les lignes directrices de l’institut de gestion du projet, ont aujourd’hui élargi la définition du terme risque, en incluant également la notion d’opportunité. La gestion des risques est un domaine primordial de l’industrie de la construction et a acquis plus d’importance internationale compte tenu des dernières recherches menées à grande échelle. Cependant, il reste relativement nouveau et nécessite plus d'attention pour apporter certains avantages. Les projets de construction sont confrontés à un nombre énorme de risques ayant des effets négatifs sur les principales caractéristiques d’un projet tels que le temps, le coût et la qualité. Ce mémoire se concentre sur l’identification des différents risques trouvés dans l’industrie de la construction et qui propose un modèle simplifié portant sur le cycle de vie sur l’état du risque. De même, il permet de proposer un deuxième modèle concernant les différentes méthodes d’analyse et de catégorisation des risques dans un projet de construction. Ces modèles pourront aider les décideurs, les entreprises, les gérants et les gestionnaires des projets à bien comprendre la complexité des risques identifiés. À l’aide des guides d’entrevues, trois entrevues ont été menées auprès d’un seul répondant afin d’obtenir un aperçu de la gestion des risques et comprendre l’importance de cette dernière. Les résultats des recherches ont révélé la nature des risques dans ce secteur, le modèle d’évaluation des risques. À l’issue de l’enquête, des recommandations ont été formulées pour aider les gestionnaires à affronter les risques. Pourquoi la gestion des risques est-elle si peu appliquée aux projets de construction ? Est-ce dû aux acteurs qui ne sont pas capables d'incorporer des nouveaux méthodes ou sont les méthodes qui ne sont pas du tout adaptées aux spécificités de la construction ? L'objectif principal de cette recherche est de proposer une méthode d'analyse de risques qui soit adapté au contexte de la construction, notamment pour les entreprises qui sont responsable pour les travaux du projet de construction. Pour atteindre cet objectif, la recherche a été partagé en deux parties : une première partie contenant les quatre premiers chapitres qui présente le contexte, l'organisation, les acteurs, les phases des projets de la construction à partir d'une recherche bibliographique et de la présentation des deux cas. qui ont connu des accidents graves. La deuxième partie est composée par les quatre derniers chapitres qui approchent les méthodes existantes et proposent une méthode développée à partir de la théorie d'utilité multi-attributs. Cette méthode dynamique et évolutive est proposée de façon que les perspectives des différents niveaux de décision au sein de la même entreprise responsable pour les travaux dans la phase d'exécution du projet de construction soit prise en compte face à la gestion des risques du projet cette manière d'améliorer la performance des projets, en réduisant des accidents, des retards et conséquemment les surcoûts et qui prend en compte la perspective.

This volume describes risk management practices in the construction industry in selected countries, with an emphasis on developing countries and how these countries can learn from the practices in more developed ones. Risk management in the construction industry can be difficult to understand due to the various complex procedures that are involved and to the unique concerns and contexts associated with each project. The industry has been a key contributor to the economic and social development of many countries of the world and is increasingly incorporating sustainability into its practices. However it is plagued by various risks that can affect the quality, cost, time and overall sustainability of projects. Therefore, there is need to effectively manage risk in order to ensure timely completion of construction projects in good quality and within budget, which in turn results in more efficient and often more sustainable practices. The book is divided into four parts. The first section features a primer on risk management practices as they pertain to the construction industry. The second part dives in to describe risk management in selected developing countries, including Malaysia, Qatar, Saudi-Arabia, South Africa, Sri-Lanka and Tanzania, as well as the city of Hong Kong. The third section describes the construction risk management practices of a selection of more developed countries with known risk management institutes and established practices of risk management. These countries include Australia, Canada, Sweden and United States of America. The fourth part offers a general overview of the definition, concepts and process of risk management based on reviewed literature. It also discusses the benefits of effective risk management to clients and to project teams, especially from the perspective of ensuring sustainability.
