Se ofrece una aproximacion al debate historiografico sobre el papel de las ideas y movimientos ideologicos y culturales europeos de los siglos XVIII y XIX en los procesos politicos y socioculturales de los paises hispanoamericanos durante el periodo post-independentista. Se aborda el caso del Romanticismo para explorar las bases epistemologicas y doctrinales de su configuracion como movimiento cultural y corriente ideologica tanto en Alemania como en Francia, ademas de esclarecer sus contribuciones a la Historiografia Universal, a partir del analisis hermeneutico de las obras principales del padre conceptual de dicho movimiento -Johann Gottfried von Herder-, y de los aportes de varios pensadores franceses. Se plantea como fue el proceso mediante el cual se llevo a cabo la recepcion y apropiacion de las doctrinas herderianas y romanticas por parte de los miembros del primer ambito de intelectuales romanticos desarrollado en Hispanoamerica: la Joven Argentina o Asociacion de Mayo.
