Se hace referencia cierta al dilema confianza-desconfianza como característica peculiar de la crisis que se vive en el entorno institucional latinoamericano producto de un estilo de pensamiento esquizoparanoide desarrollado en muchos adultos por múltiples factores y elementos intrínsecos propios, en su mayoría vinculados con el impulso silencioso de las fuerzas ambientales y el poder de mando en todas sus perspectivas. En el libro se discuten y abarcan, por lo menos, tres grupos temáticos diferenciados y relacionados con la desconfianza: 1) Como en América Latina y el Caribe, las diferencias culturales y de producción de las personas han interactuado con las experiencias de desigualdades sostenidas y desarrolladas permanentemente para crear e impulsar la incredulidad y la desconfianza 2) Como numerosos factores extrínsecos (políticos, económicos, educativos, jurídicos, tecnológicos y otros) han afectado los comportamientos, el rendimiento, y las formas de intercambio de las personas, a través de las transformaciones históricas de la región, influyendo en la desconfianza de la gente, y 3) Como el conocimiento sobre factores humanos intrínsecos puede ayudar a los directivos y gerentes para anticipar, dirigir, y aprovechar de manera institucional programas de medición y transformación con acciones positivas para promover y mejorar el aprendizaje y la confianza. Se trata de un enfoque interpretativo sobre acontecimientos evidentes que busca contribuir con proposiciones sobre como "gerenciar la desconfianza," haciendo reflexiones e invitando a los administradores y directivos, de los sectores público y privado de la economía, para analizar, discutir y evaluar causas y consecuencias categóricas que se generan, delimitan, y propagan en el comportamiento individual y social de los miembros de cualquier organización. Especialmente, cuando los niveles de la desconfianza crecen producto de problemas no resueltos y de actitudes negativas ante respuestas inconsistentes, lo que influye a su vez en la cultura de la desconfianza afectando e infectando a la comunidad y la sociedad. Migration movements have been a constant in the societies of the past, as well as in postmodern society. However, in the past ten years, the increase in political, economic, and religious conflict amongst nations; the increase of the poverty index; and many and various natural disasters have duplicated the forced displacement of millions of people across the seven continents of the planet. This situation brings important challenges in terms of the vulnerability, inequity, and discrimination that certain peoples suffer. Professionals from the fields of the social sciences, education, psychology, and international law share the fact that education represents an opportunity for children and young migrants to become members with full rights in the societies they arrive in. The 1973 coups d’état in Uruguay and Chile were significantly different from other military coups in Latin America. These two dictatorial regimes began a new era in the subcontinent. They became staunch bearers of a National Security State doctrine and introduced radical new economic policies. More tellingly, they gave birth to extreme models of society built on the foundations of what can arguably be considered ideological genocides, relying on both rudimentary and sophisticated methods of repression and authoritarianism to establish neoliberal systems that have lasted until today. 2013 marked the 40th anniversary of the fall of democratic rule in those countries. After four decades, the governments of Uruguay and Chile continue to show deficiencies in bringing the perpetrators of severe human rights violations to face justice. 40 Years are Nothing: History and Memory of the 1973 coups d’état in Uruguay and Chile is inspired by the strong memories that these coups still create. The range of topics addressed in the contributions gathered here demonstrate that the 1973 coups continue to be key points of interest for researchers across the globe and that the study of these topics is far from exhausted.
