El presente texto tiene como propósito fundamental, valorar la importancia de la literatura ficcional para la reconstrucción de los rasgos históricos y culturales de los pueblos. En este sentido, se pretende concebir a los relatos como un espacio que muestra las tradiciones ancestrales a partir del uso de la memoria como una estrategia para visualizar a las tramas literarias y a la historia dentro de un mismo discurso narrativo, cuya finalidad es develar y reforzar aspectos de la identidad cultural de las sociedades actuales. Desde el punto de vista teórico, este estudio se sustentó en los aportes de: Henri Bergson (2006) con Memoria y Materia, de Paul Ricoeur (1999) con respecto a: La lectura del tiempo pasado: memoria y olvido, también Tiempo y narración III (1996), de Tzvetan Todorov (2000): Los abusos de la memoria, Hyden White con Ficción histórica- Historia ficcional- Realidad histórica, acerca de la historiografía como narración y el texto histórico como artefacto literario y otros escritos, Martin Heidegger, (1997) Ser y Tiempo. Además se elaboró un breve acercamiento a la memoria que se muestra a partir del intertexto, tomando como referencia a Genette en: Palimpsestos.
