Queremos hablar muy largo y tendido, disertar desde el amor y la pasión no únicamente del Ayamonte de ayer, sino del de hoy, pueblo y ciudad situada, ya lo hemos dicho antes, en la orilla izquierda del Guadiana y del verano, que es la estación del año en la que los mil y un espejos del río Guadiana se llenan de luces y brillos de plata que destellan y rielan sobre la superficie del río con fuertes intensidades de diamantes. Porque el verano es para Ayamonte la estación del año que eleva su pulso comercial y su sentido lúdico de la existencia, sus inmensas ganas de sobrevivir, en suma –que son muchas– hasta la mismísima hipérbole. Queremos hablar de la luz del verano y de sus noches plácidas, que es cuando Ayamonte se sacude su calurosa modorra de lagarto albino que sestea y no se cansa nunca de tomar el sol y al llegar la noche se echa a la calle, loca de música joven y de los embria- gantes olores nuevos que brotan de ella misma, flor de luz entre las luces de colores que atesoran en sus hermosas y frágiles naturalezas todas las flores. Entre Ayamonte y Villa Real de San Antonio se nos dimensiona y se nos hace río grande nuestro Guadiana. Y entra en ambas ciudades rompiéndose sus entrañas azules contra las aristas blancas de su propia espuma, uniendo su canción de vida y de libertad a la sinfonía acuática de un Atlántico bajo cuyo enorme corazón líquido gravita, amenazante, oculta y sin resolver, una fría amenaza de naufragios. Río que discurre y murmura mientras sigue el imparable fragor de su curso sorteando una geografía de ramajes y peñascos; que gime y que susurra en su deriva atlántica; que canturrea y le habla al paisaje que baña y riega usando su voz de sonoridades únicas, moduladas en los agudos claros de todos sus reverberantes y sonoros cristales de agua".
