"La residenza temporanea per studenti universitari in Italia è recentemente uscita da un lungo letargo sia per la sempre crescente richiesta di servizi per gli studenti, sia per recenti normative che hanno orientato la ricerca verso nuove tipologie residenziali, sia per nuove possibilità di finanziamenti che vedono la residenza studentesca porsi anche come possibile campo di investimento. Un passo decisivo in questa direzione è stato compiuto con la pubblicazione della Legge n. 338 del 14 novembre 2000 recante "Disposizioni in materia di alloggi e residenza per studenti universitari", ed i successivi decreti attuativi che hanno riformato sia gli aspetti finanziari che quelli progettuali di questi importanti organismi. Il volume, partendo da una ricerca di dottorato in Ingegneria Edile, si sviluppa "a tutto campo" evidenziando argomenti che vanno dall'approfondimento storico, a quello normativo (sono illustrati in dettaglio i punti salienti della nuova normativa e suoi Decreti Ministeriali), dall'analisi critica dei progetti di residenze temporanee per studenti in Italia, alla loro comparazione rispetto agli standard normativi. I progetti riguardano un campione di circa novanta casi di studio scelti sul territorio nazionale e riferiti ad un arco temporale che va da 1990 al 2005. Per ciascuno di essi è stata elaborata una scheda che ne analizza in dettaglio aspetti tipologici, dimensionali, parametrici e tecnologici. L'impostazione manualistica delle schede è completata da un abaco, ricco di dettagli, delle unità ambientali e delle soluzioni tecnologiche adottate nei singoli progetti rendendo l'opera un utile strumento di riferimento per la progettazione. Il testo si conclude con un saggio, curato da Silvia Belforte, in cui viene illustrato il caso della riconversione a residenze studentesche del Villaggio Olimpico di Torino" -- Libro Co.
