In this issue of Engramma: Giulia Zanon’s Zooming Mnemosyne deals with the use of details in Warburg’s Bilderatlas, Monica Centanni’s Collateral effects of the “visibile parlare” (Dante, Pg. The focus of this issue is then extended to Warburg's cultural environment. Matilde Sergio’s Aby Warburg, Walter Benjaming, and the Memory of Images investigates the influence of Warburg's essay about Luther, on Benjamin's thought, while Dorothee Gelhard’s Gertrud Bing’s Scientific Beginnings reconstructs the intellectual history of Bing's doctoral thesis and its influences on Warburgian work. The theme of Warburg’s Denkraum is the focal point of Salvatore Settis’ Anselm Kiefer's Logic of Inversion: a fundamental overview of Kiefer's Questi scritti, quando verranno bruciati, daranno finalmente un po’ di luce(Andrea Emo) on display at Sala dello Scrutinio in Palazzo Ducale, Venezia from March to October 2022. The third section of the issue is dedicated to new publications and exhibitions. Echoing Settis’ reflection on Denkraum, we present Clio Nicastro’s La Dialettica del Denkraum in Aby Warburg, published this year for Palermo University Press; an introduction to Cultural Memories: a series published by Peter Lang and edited by Katia Pizzi. Giacomo Calandra di Roccolino with Mary Hertz Warburg: Free and Unconventional reviews the exhibition of the artist Mary Hertz Warburg. The issue closes with the important Choral Reading of Il metodo di Aby Warburg by Kurt W. Forster. L’antico dei gesti. Il futuro della memoria, where Barbara Baert, Victoria Cirlot, Georges Didi-Huberman, Michael Diers, Andrea Pinotti and Ianick Takaes offer us their personal reading of Warburg’s life and thought as they are presented by Forster’s newly translated book, edited by Ronzani editore.

Engramma 204 collects researches and findings of several Italian and European scholars who have dealt with aspects related to ancient, Medieval and Modern pilgrimage along the main three European Routes (Via Romea Francigena, Via Romea Strata, Via Romea Germanica), or along other routes to the Holy Land. The issue is divided into three sections. The first one is dedicated to the European project rurAllure by Martín López Nores, José Juan Pazos Arias, Susana Reboreda Morillo, Óscar Penín Romero, which focuses on the enhancement of minor sites along the pilgrimage routes of Europe, and it is accompanied by an overview on the development of promotional activities for some Italian cases supervised by Alessia Mariotti. The second section presents a series of studies related to some contexts that are close to mineral springs or important waterways and were frequented by pilgrims throughout the centuries: these are articles by Paola Zanovello and Andrea Meleri's on the Euganean Hills (Padua), by Maddalena Bassani's on the sanctuary of Minerva Medica in Val Trebbia (Piacenza) and that at Timavo’s Sources (Monfalcone), by Jacopo Turchetto on the centuriation between Padua and Altino. Furthermore, the articles by Silvia González Soutelo, Miguel Gómez-Heras, and Laura García Juan on the Bagno Vignoni area (Siena), and by Alessia Mariotti and Mattia Vitelli Casella on the Argenta site (Po Delta). In the third and final section one can read two important contributions, the first by Ludovico Rebaudo, devoted to the study of manuscript evidences recorded during a pilgrimage to the Holy Land about archaeological remains in Anatolia; the second by Jacopo Tabolli, who presents an exhibition on votive bronzes left by pilgrims in the sanctuary at the ‘Sorgenti di San Casciano ai Bagni’ (Siena) that recently opened at the Palazzo del Quirinale in Rome.

The issue of Engramma no. 209 is the outcome of a Seminar held in Venice, on 11 January 2024, on the occasion of what would have been Franco Rella’s eightieth birthday, not to honour his death, but to celebrate the life of his thought; not an “Obituary”, therefore, but a “Festschrift”. The title “Immagini del pensiero” (“Images of Thought”) is borrowed from Franco Rella's important volume published in 1984, Metamorfosi. Immagini del pensiero and responds to this need: to open up the field to a thematich orizon that starts from the object and follows a personal gradient of abstraction, in virtue of the fact that “the word and the image open a way to thought, through things, towards form, to a form” (so Franco Rella wrote). In this “Homage to Franco Rella”, we have collected the voices of friends and scholars who were close to Franco Rella and companions in their intellectual adventures, and even readers who shared and intersected parts of their intellectual journey with his thought and works. The fil rouge that spontaneously wove itself between the different voices was the fact that all the authors took their cue from an essay, a volume, a page, a passage from a specific text by Rella in order to weave a living dialogue with his thought. The issue includes contributions by: Emanuele Arielli, Alessandra Chemollo, Giorgiomaria Cornelio, Franco Ermini, Mario Farina, Roberto Masiero, Susanna Mati, Lea Melandri, Angela Mengoni, Antonella Sbrilli, Tommaso Scarponi, Massimo Stella, Davide Susanetti, Angela Vettese, Giulia Zanon. As a final, important contribution, in this issue we publish a Bibliography of Franco Rella’s works edited by Giulia Zanon, under the supervision of Susanna Mati, which includes his main monographs, translations and curatorships, as well as numerous contributions in catalogues and volumes, and an initial outline of his boundless non-fiction production in collective volumes and journals. Organised in chronological order, the Bibliography traces a kind of 'intellectual biography' that outlines and unravels through the philosopher's production from the 1970s to the present day, tracing a history of the evolution of his interests and thought.
