La verdadera historia de Perico Autor: Wilfredo Alvelo Esta es la historia de un niño con un gran impedimento físico. No es la enfermedad lo que no lo ha dejado integrarse en la sociedad, sino la sociedad misma. Como resultado, se ve obligado a huir; huir de todo el mundo. Busca éste algo que lo ayude a definirse. Rehusa ser lo que otros dicen que es, una especie de Frankenstein diminuto, un payaso de circo. La vida de Perico no hubiera sido vida sin la presencia de su tía. Esta, para bien o para mal lo incorpora a una existencia pecaminosa; y de alguna manera lo justifica o justifica su existencia. Perico se entrega a la noche y es ésta quien mejor lo define. Ahí yace su tía con lo que le ha tocado vivir. También vive ésta atrapada en su pasado. A cada cual toca vivir en la noche lo que no se ha podido vivir en el día. Perico sueña que vive y vive soñando. Perico quiere acabar con esta vida, pero no quiere irse solo. También éste aprendió a amar. En una niña de escuela se ha fijado y ésta se ha convertido en la razón de mil razones. Pues bien, aquí estriban la tía, la muchachita, y un único desenlace. Sobre el autor: A Wilfredo Alvelo se le ha visto como poeta, pero es la prosa lo que lo hace sentir más a gusto. Estudió en Brooklyn College y en City College, ambos de City University of New York. Octuvo una maestría de Teachers College, Columbia University (1984), y en la misma universidad hizo su doctorado ( 1990). En 1989 escribe El aire y otras mentiras, su primera entrega poética. A ésta le sigue De abismo y de-lirio. Aquí pasamos, de manera sublime, de la poesía a la prosa poética; algo que el autor cultivará con más sutileza en su obra más reciente.
