A travers quatre études de cas emblématiques - le Grand Paris, Jérusalem, Rio de Janeiro et Karachi -, cet ouvrage illustre la grande diversité et la complexité géopolitique des conflits en milieu urbain. Si les rivalités de pouvoir pour le contrôle de la ville sont communes à ces quatre exemples, les facteurs à l'origine des conflits sont divers enjeux de pouvoirs politiques, tensions économiques et sociales, rivalités ethniques et/ou religieuses... les situations géopolitiques les plus graves combinent l'ensemble de ces facteurs.
