Un romanzo di esordio dai toni soffusi e delicati, una narrazione che si spiega agile come note su un pentagramma. La storia in sé è tanto semplice quanto ammaliante. Lei (Anna) incontra lui (Filippo) una calda sera di maggio perché la sua auto è rimasta in panne e il giovane si offre di riaccompagnarla a casa a piedi, si innamorano di un amore puro e travolgente, ma l’idillio entra in crisi come sovente accade a causa di un altro. Ma nulla è come appare e i due protagonisti dovranno trovare se stessi prima di imboccare un percorso comune. L’autrice gioca la carta della musica come terapia, la musica che si riserva il diritto e il dovere di educare, demistificare i comportamenti rendendoli più veri e giusti, scuotere le menti dal torpore. L’amore, l’onestà, la lealtà, la giustizia e la tolleranza sono valori che la musica sa di poter sublimare in modo inverosimile. Perché è innegabile il potere terapeutico della musica, che guarisce, lenisce, fa letteralmente rinascere, in altre parole, riabilita a vivere. Lucia Forani tesse abilmente la sua tela narrativa prendendo a prestito dai più grandi musicisti contemporanei i versi delle loro canzoni, sì che ogni scena è vissuta sulle note di un brano musicale da Is this love?, di Bob Marley a Music di John Miles, da Nowhere man del poliedrico John Lennon a Suspicious minds di Mark James, fino a Hai un momento, Dio?, di Ligabue. Lucia Forani è nata a Jesi il 10 dicembre 1976, ma vive da sempre a Civitanova Marche. La vita a passi di musica è il suo romanzo di esordio.

Alzira is the seventh work and the sixth opera to be published in the critical edition of The Works of Giuseppe Verdi. Composed during the middle of the very productive period of Verdi's first large-scale successes, Alzira premiered at Naples on August 12, 1845. Cammarano's libretto is based on a play of Voltaire, who used a real incident in sixteenth-century Peru during the Spanish conquest to shape a critique of the morality of the noble savage as against Christian values. The inherent conflicts and exotic setting appealed to Verdi's dramatic sense, and in its best moments the music of Alzira fully realizes his potential as a masterful composer for the theater. Because the success of the premiere was not repeated, Alzira fell out of the repertory and no orchestral score was ever published. The critical edition, based on Verdi's autograph score and important secondary sources, provides the first reliable full score of the work. It is complemented by an introduction tracing the opera's genesis, sources and performance history and practices. Together with the detailed critical commentary, discussing problems and ambiguities in the sources, the edition provides scholars and performers alike with unequalled means for interpretation and study of this poorly known work.
