El autor es médico y Capitán de Yate. En el verano de 2012, junto a Luis Espejo, también Capitán de Yate y ambos navegantes aficionados, dio la vuelta a la península ibérica a vela en una travesía que duró tres meses. Tres detalles hicieron a este viaje especial. En primer lugar el barco era un Tonic 23, velero de serie de menos de 7 metros y 28 años de antigüedad, sin ninguna preparación estructural específica. En segundo lugar, la circunnavegación de la península fue completa, no finalizó en Cataluña como es lo habitual. Ellos continuaron la vuelta atravesando Francia por el Canal de Midi y volvieron a Santander por el Este. Y en tercer lugar, no estuvieron esponsorizados, realizando el viaje por el puro gusto de navegar y con sus propios medios. En este libro se relatan los detalles de la preparación del barco, las anécdotas del viaje y sus propias conclusiones personales y relativas a la navegación en barcos pequeños de serie. Si algún lector se anima a ampliar los horizontes de su pequeño velero tras la lectura de estas páginas, el objetivo del libro estará cumplido.
