La Revista Laicidad y Libertades ha cubierto desde sus orígenes un campo de investigación ligado a la Laicidad como marco jurídico-político propicio y necesario para el adecuado desarrollo de la libertad de conciencia y los derechos y libertades ligados y derivados de la misma. Impulsando la Revista han estado, desde sus orígenes, los miembros de la Asociación "Derecho, Laicidad y Libertades". la Revista haya llegado hasta la actualidad como un referente en las publicaciones de los especialistas dedicados al estudio del Derecho Eclesiástico del Estado. El número 23 que presentamos, es el segundo de esta nueva etapa, en la que la Agencia Estatal Boletín Oficial del Estado prosigue la coedición de la obra. Marcus Moberg offers a new model of religion and religious life in the post-war era, through focusing on the role of markets and media as vectors of contemporary social and cultural change – and therefore institutional religious change. While there is wide agreement among sociologists of religion that there this area is transforming on a global scale, there is less agreement about how these changes should best be approached and conceptualized. In a time of accelerating institutional religious decline, institutional Churches have become ever more susceptible to market-associated discourse and language and are ever more compelled to adapt to the demands of the present-day media environment. Using discourse analysis, Marcus Moberg tracks how new media and marketing language and concepts have entered Christian thinking and discourse. Church, Market, and Media develops a framework that approaches changes in the contemporary religious field in direct relation to the changing socioeconomic makeup of contemporary societies on the whole. The European religious landscape is changing fundamentally. Are we experiencing a decline, revival, recycling or transformation of religion? Moreover, will Europe become a museum of religions or a laboratory of new religious experiences? A group of experts from different disciplines and nationalities, meeting in Pecs, Hungary - the European Capital of Culture 2010 -, examines in detail, the contrasting developments around the religious lives of individuals, communities, institutions, emerging from processes of secularisation, relativisation, and privatisation ("believing without belonging"). What emerges is a picture of very contrasting mega-trends, with positive and negative aspects, characterised, for example, by a sharp decline in traditional situations as well as the emergence of new situations rich of flurries, which are featured mostly under the so-called "creative minorities". What happens in the world of religions cannot be side-lined, if we are looking for an appropriate response.
