So much as to the home use of our book, - with the stereoscope, the graphoscope, or the newer instrument, the touroscope. Lecturers and exhibitors, with the now justly popular and improved magic lantern, will find these descriptions of great value in making selections for their courses, and to contain a full supply of things proper to say when the beautiful glass pictures which photography supplies are projected upon the screen, for audiences not only desire to see the views but to hear interesting descriptions thereof. The subjects have been arranged into journeys or tours, In order that the delight in them may be enhanced. They can be changed and re-arranged as much as the mulplication table and I tremblingly leave that work to the indulgent reader.

NAZARETH--Still going northward we come to Nazareth, the scene of the Annunciation, and where the childhood and early manhood of our Lord was spent; where "he increased in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man." It is beautifully situated on the western side of one of the loveliest valleys in Syria, surrounded by beautiful fields, gardens, and orchards. A Latin convent here contains the Church of the Annunciation, and the house of Joseph and Mary. The kitchen, parlor, and bedroom of the Virgin are shown, and the precise spot on which the angel and Mary stood at the moment of the Annunciation. No. 40. TYRE--The great city of Tyre, which is so eloquently and magnificently described by Ezekiel in his prophecy, chapters 27 and 28, is now represented by an insignificant village. Many efforts have been made to revive it, but with little success. The circumstances that made ancient Tyre what it was do not now exist. It was founded twentyseven hundred years before the Christian era, and is probably one of the most ancient cities of the world. Its king, Hiram, and Solomon, were very good friends. Not very far from the city are the wells of Solomon, and the ancient aqueduct for conveying water to the city. Now, however, the natives have to buy their water supply. No. 41. A WATER SELLER AT TYRE.--In old times "the merchants of Tyre were princes, and her traffickers the honorable of the earth;" such is far from the case at present. Excerpt from Wilson's Lantern Journeys, Vol. 3: A Series of Descriptions of Journeys at Home and Abroad, for Use With Photographic Views, the Stereoscope, and Magic Lantern The two volumes of descriptions which I have already had the pleasure of preparing have met with such favor that I am induced to follow with a third. This time I am enabled to describe the product of my own camera, for during the first half of last year, 1882, I visited Egypt, Palestine, Syria, the Sinai Peninsula, and Arabia Petra. I conducted the largest photographic expedition that was probably ever known. And, as a result, I brought home a series of oriental views, new and unattainable heretofore. And now, since they are ready to do their work, I proceed with the next duty of supplying descriptions for the information and help of those who wish to enjoy and share the pleasures of my wanderings. The work cost many a long, hard, and perilous journey, but it also gave me many happy days, when I wished that everybody might see and know all that I saw and learned. The contents at this date, November, 1883, will include only the descriptions of the last part of the route named above, but I hope, as time permits, to follow with descriptions of the rest, and fill up the volume to its proper size.
