Introducción: Indagar sobre la movilidad internacional puede resultar un campo lleno de muchas posibilidades. Los alcances de este tipo de ejercicios pueden llegar a ser demasiado complejos, sobre todo porque este objeto de investigación constituye también un factor de cambio social, o por lo menos, eso es lo que se espera. En este sentido el siguiente trabajo estuvo orientado hacia la identificación de las posibles transformaciones que se podrían presentar en las relaciones de parentesco y de género en un conjunto de familias con experiencia migratoria internacional ubicadas en el Sector de Cuba en Pereira Risaralda. En el supuesto, de que estos cambios no resultaran tan significativos, como al parecer lo era, según algunos estudios realizados alrededor de este tema, entonces se hablaría de las permanencias que en definitiva, resultaban difíciles de remover. De una u otra forma, era necesario continuar con la búsqueda de nuevas maneras de abordar este asunto, que en últimas permitiera al menos reconocer cuáles eran aquellos aspectos susceptibles de cambiar y cuáles no, cuando se estaba involucrado dentro de un proceso migratorio, sea quien se queda en el país o quien migra. El conjunto de representaciones y de prácticas escogidos, se centró en las relaciones de parentesco y de género al interior de algunas unidades familiares. Estas dos dimensiones, podrían entonces dar cuenta de la ocurrencia de cambios significativos en el contexto de la movilidad internacional, el papel de las mujeres en dichos procesos no podía verse simplemente como una cuestión estadística, sino por el contrario, podía resultar un tema estructural. Por lo menos se trataba de abrir otras posibilidades de reflexión alrededor de asuntos que habían sido ya estigmatizados, como eran, la ruptura de la familia y la ausencia de las madres en las mismas. Resumen: La investigación busca el acercamiento a los cambios y transformaciones de roles que presenta un grupo de mujeres al interior de sus familias, luego de vivir una experiencia migratoria internacional y cuyo momento de retorno ocurre entre los años 2000 y 2014. Las protagonistas de la movilidad internacional, residentes en la ciudad de Pereira, fueron mujeres y madres que vivieron situaciones propias del proceso migratorio y por ende asociadas a los roles de género. Se evidencia cómo estas transformaciones modificaron y reconfiguraron las formas en que se tejen las relaciones al interior de las familias de las mujeres retornadas, donde aspectos como la proveeduría, el ejercicio de la autoridad y otros elementos propios de la cotidianidad de las personas, generaron cambios ambiguos pero, significativos en las dinámicas más próximas de las estas mujeres y sus familias.
