Amidst the serene academic environment a sudden rumbling in the campus underworld ends up truncating, and turning all academic activities upside down. Three days into the chaos, the air is thick with the stench of blood and death! Students and staff of the University of Nigeria Enugu Campus are terrified to the marrow, and the next name in the casualty list remains uncertain. UNEC is in shambles and desolation. The campus lays like a hurricane-devastated region after a fierce and brutal battle between members of the Pirates Confraternity and the Supreme Vikings Confraternity. Fifty-five students have died. At the centre of the fiasco, is the Supreme Chief of the Pirates Confraternity, Jerry Orits aka Hannibal the Great. It started with a girl, and ended with BLOOD. Lots of blood! Among the frat men, retaliation and retribution rank high. At the end of the bloody spar, what casually began as a "warning lesson" is concluded with reprisals, forcing Hannibal and others to realize that cultism is no way to stay alive. It is as dangerous and deadly, as a ricocheting bullet. Obinna Chukwubuikem Diony Anejionu, a lecturer with the University of Nigeria Nsukka was born in Nigeria in a family of six. He is a graduate of Geoinformatics and Surveying, from the University of Nigeria Nsukka, where he also obtained a Masters Degree in Hydrographic Surveying. Anejionu recently obtained a second Masters degree in GIS with Remote Sensing, from the University of Greenwich, London. He presently resides in the United Kingdom. This book is a work of fiction.

Aid And Authoritarianism In Africa written by Tobias Hagmann and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-03-15 with Political Science categories.

In 2013 almost half of Africa's top aid recipients were ruled by authoritarian regimes. While the West may claim to promote democracy and human rights, in practice major bilateral and international donors, such as USAID, DFID, the World Bank and the European Commission, have seen their aid policies become ever more entangled with the survival of their authoritarian protégés. Local citizens thus find themselves at the receiving end of a compromise between aid agencies and government elites, in which development policies are shaped in the interests of maintaining the status quo. Aid and Authoritarianism in Africa sheds light on the political intricacies and moral dilemmas raised by the relationship between foreign aid and autocratic rule in Africa. Through contributions by leading experts exploring the revival of authoritarian development politics in Ethiopia, Uganda, Rwanda, Cameroon, Mozambique and Angola, the book exposes shifting donor interests and rhetoric as well as the impact of foreign aid on military assistance, rural development, electoral processes and domestic politics. In the process, it raises an urgent and too often neglected question: to what extent are foreign aid programmes actually perpetuating authoritarian rule?

BILLY BYRNE was a product of the streets and alleys of Chicago's great West Side. From Halsted to Robey, and from Grand Avenue to Lake Street there was scarce a bartender whom Billy knew not by his first name. And, in proportion to their number which was considerably less, he knew the patrolmen and plain clothes men equally as well, but not so pleasantly. His kindergarten education had commenced in an alley back of a feed-store. Here a gang of older boys and men were wont to congregate at such times as they had naught else to occupy their time, and as the bridewell was the only place in which they ever held a job for more than a day or two, they had considerable time to devote to congregating. They were pickpockets and second-story men, made and in the making, and all were muckers, ready to insult the first woman who passed, or pick a quarrel with any stranger who did not appear too burly. By night they plied their real vocations. By day they sat in the alley behind the feedstore and drank beer from a battered tin pail. The question of labor involved in transporting the pail, empty, to the saloon across the street, and returning it, full, to the alley back of the feed-store was solved by the presence of admiring and envious little boys of the neighborhood who hung, wide-eyed and thrilled, about these heroes of their childish lives. Billy Byrne, at six, was rushing the can for this noble band, and incidentally picking up his knowledge of life and the rudiments of his education. He gloried in the fact that he was personally acquainted with "Eddie" Welch, and that with his own ears he had heard "Eddie" tell the gang how he stuck up a guy on West Lake Street within fifty yards of the Twenty-eighth Precinct Police Station. The kindergarten period lasted until Billy was ten; then he commenced "swiping" brass faucets from vacant buildings and selling them to a fence who ran a junkshop on Lincoln Street near Kinzie. From this man he obtained the hint that graduated him to a higher grade, so that at twelve he was robbing freight cars in the yards along Kinzie Street, and it was about this same time that he commenced to find pleasure in the feel of his fist against the jaw of a fellow-man....
