D'au tre part, comme le faisait observer le procureur général syndic du département dans sa lettre du 9 décembre 1791 2, la Régie des droits d'enregistrement avait été chargée de faire dresser un état de tous les droits et de toutes les rentes appartenant à la nation; pour former ces états et établir des cueilloirs exacts, les préposés de la régie avaient été autorisés à prendre com munication de tous les titres qui, conformément à la loi du 5 novembre, devaient ètre déposés dans les archives de chaque district. Il importait de leur ouvrir au plus vite ce dépôt, pour mettre a couvert la responsabilité de l'administration en cas de retard dans la poursuite et l'achèvement de leur travail.
