Non a caso il Matto melanconico di Come vi piace rivendica la carica rinnovatrice e catartica del riso: purga del mondo infetto, forza inesauribile eppure impermanente, che si accompagna alla malinconia, che non raggiunge certezze ma solo speranze, che provoca dubbi nel bel mezzo di una risata; che, insomma, rinnova continuamente il mistero di un genere polivalente, instabile, che non risolve il caos della vita ma lo prolunga, decantandolo.

This book asks new questions about how and why Shakespeare engages with source material, and about what should be counted as sources in Shakespeare studies.
