L'acupuncture appartient de plein droit à la médecine traditionnelle chinoise. Elle permet l'étude et l'évaluation de l'énergie circulante dans l'organisme avec la possibilité de la répartir équitablement, de façon harmonieuse, dans les différentes loges énergétiques représentées par les cinq éléments : Bois, Feu, Terre, Métal, Eau et par un sixième élément l'élément TR-MC, représentatif des énergies du Ciel et Ancestrales. Cette énergie essentielle « Tsong-Tchi » qui nous maintient en vie est composée de trois souffles : l'énergie Alimentaire, l'énergie du Ciel et l'énergie Ancestrale. Le traitement va consister en une évaluation quantitative et qualitative des 6 pouls radiaux grâce à la palpation de chaque loge et de ses racines afin d'établir un diagnostic énergétique précis permettant la conduite d'un traitement par stimulation des points d'acupuncture avec des aiguilles ou avec les doigts (acupressure). L’objectif final est de traiter des malades et non des maladies et surtout de rendre les patients « adaptables ». La santé n'est pas en effet seulement l'absence de symptômes, mais correspond à l'adaptabilité d'un individu au milieu, à l'environnement et aux éventuelles modifications de celui-ci face aux agressions externes, climatiques alimentaires, sensorielles, mentales ou émotionnelles. Cette méthode fait preuve d'originalité car elle est en effet basée sur la pure tradition. Elle consiste en l'établissement d'un diagnostic et en la mise en place d'un traitement uniquement à partir de la lecture des pouls chinois, en absence de toute description ou énumération verbale des symptômes du patient. Elle démontre la possibilité de traiter tous les patients, sans exception, sans être gêné par une complète aphonie, ni par une éventuelle barrière de la langue.

This book establishes a dialogue between colonial studies and the history of science, contributing to a renewed analytical framework grounded on a trans-national, trans-cultural and trans-imperial perspective. It proposes a historiographical revision based on self-organization and cooperation theories, as well as the role of traditionally marginalized agents, including women, in processes that contributed to the building of a First Global Age, from 1400 to 1800. The intermediaries between European and local bearers of knowledge played a central role, together with cultural translation processes involving local practices of knowledge production and the global circulation of persons, commodities, information and knowledge. Colonized worlds in the First Global Age were central to the making of Europe, while Europeans were, undoubtedly, responsible for the emergence of new balances of power and new cultural grounds. Circulation and locality are core concepts of the theoretical frame of this book. Discussing the connection between the local and the global, in terms of production and circulation of knowledge, within the framework of colonialism, the book establishes a dialogue between experts on the history of science and specialists on global and colonial studies.

Il sert de base théorico-pratique au second volume, dit méthodologique. Ce dernier a l'ambition de comprendre et de mesurer l'acquisition de ce geste métier. Nous proposons, en première partie de ce deuxième volume, d'adapter une recherche par autoconfrontation vidéographiée. Elle a pour ambition de comprendre le processus des apprentis palpeurs dès lors qu'ils répondent à une prescription palpatoire. La seconde partie aborde de façon expérimentale la question : en quoi le formateur, outillé d'un modèle d'imitation modélisation interactif (socioconstructiviste), rend performant la palpation thérapeutique de l'apprenant ? L'objectif inavoué reste la performance thérapeutique au service des patients.
