Una interessante visione medievale dei Vangeli. Testo del XII secolo tradotto in italiano con approfonditi commenti. Uno squarcio sulla versione medievale delle credenze su Gesù-Salvatore. Si tratta di un testo avvalorato dalla Chiesa del tempo che “prende spunto” dai Vangeli e che ci ricama su di essi una vita di Gesù e degli Apostoli che appare, quantomeno, appartenente al mondo fantastico. Testo di Orderico Vitali, considerato il maggiore storico dell’epoca, fra il 1114 ed il 1142 scrisse 13 libri con la storia della Normandia, in onore del Duca di Normandia e Re d’Inghilterra. Il primo di questi volumi narra la “Vita del nostro Salvatore Gesù Cristo”. Si tratta di una versione sincretica dei quattro Vangeli Canonici, ma con ampi intarsi, vistose dimenticanze e notevoli variazioni. Il libro fu autorizzato dalla Chiesa. Ciò fu possibile poiché, nel medioevo, al popolo non era permesso leggere le Sacre Scritture e quindi era possibile manometterle a piacere.

I Vangeli Canonici riportano decine e decine di citazioni bibliche. Citazioni che all’analisi dei testi si rivelano in massima parte falsate o quantomeno fuori contesto. A fronte di una dettagliata analisi di tutte le citazioni bibliche rilevate nei Vangeli, l’esito è sconfortante. Le citazioni sono estrapolate da contesti difformi o sono addomesticate se non palesemente false. Dalle citazioni attribuite a Gesù alle citazioni indicate dagli Evangelisti, dalle affermazioni di avvenuta profezia alle parole di Gesù sulla croce, nulla regge al confronto con il testo biblico. Vengono analizzate tutte le citazioni presenti nei Vangeli Canonici, negli Atti degli Apostoli e nelle Lettere Apostoliche e vengono confrontate con i versetti di riferimento biblici. La quasi totalità delle citazioni sono state variate o anche manomesse. Sono riportati tutti i versetti sia del Nuovo che del Vecchio Testamento cosicché il lettore possa anche verificare personalmente.

This text compares the Samaritan Torah with the Hebrew Masoretic Torah in the original language. The Samaritan Torah is reported with Hebrew characters. Both texts are written in the ancient version, without the vocalization. It is believed that the Samaritan Torah is the closest to the original Bible, written in the 6th century BC, that is, on the return from the 'Babylonian captivity'. Until that time there were only rolls (books) not organized in a prearranged canon. In the formation of the text, the rabbinate of Jerusalem excluded several books: Samaritans accepted only the Pentateuch (the Torah, i.e. the first five books) attributable to Moses, plus the book of Joshua. The remaining books, accepted by the Jews, were not considered as inspired by God, in the opinion of the Samaritans, and therefore not deserving of becoming part of the Bible. The text includes Bereshit, Shemot, Vayikra, Bamidbar and Devarim. In this edition the content is printed according to Jewish usage.

Why does the metaphor of ventriloquism, the art of 'seeming to speak where one is not', speak so resonantly to our contemporary technological condition? He tracks his subject from its first recorded beginnings in ancient Israel and Greece, through the fulminations of early Christian writers against the unholy (and, they believed, obscenely produced) practices of pagan divination, the aberrations of the voice in mysticism, witchcraft and possession, and the strange obsession with the vagrant figure of the ventriloquist, newly conceived as male rather than female, during the Enlightenment.
