Hidden Legacies Of Baroque Thought In Contemporary Literature written by Jelena Todorović and has been published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-01-23 with Art categories.

This book presents, from the point of view of the early modern historian, the legacy of Baroque thought in modern and contemporary literature, a highly under-researched subject that spans two disciplines and several centuries. Its purpose is not to discover the direct links and references of one culture in the other, but, rather, to present the patterns of thought that our time owes to the age of Baroque, namely both temporal and spatial plurality. The books explored here (Invisible Cities, by Italo Calvino, Rings of Saturn, by W.G. Sebald, and The Investigator, by Dragan Velikić) are not novels that are consciously or purposefully Baroque in their structure, or use the age of the Baroque as the setting of their narratives. However, the Baroque is still present in them all, primarily as the aesthetic principle, as that invisible heritage that shapes the worldviews of their characters. They are Baroque in the sense of space they inhabit, and in the way reality and imagination are interwoven.

"Since the early 1980s, the novel has been deemed by many Italian women writers to be the most apt vehicle for creating positive images of the future of women. The novel becomes the space for confession, while at the same time allowing greater expressive freedom. There is no longer one voice for the ""feminine role"" and, by creating heroines who are also intellectuals, these authors offer their readers models of alternative versions of self. This study is a partial inventory of the new women's narrative and aims to provide a broad literary framework through which both the general reader and the student can appreciate the characteristics and innovations of contemporary Italian women's fiction. The writers chosen for this study (Ginerva Bompiani, Edith Bruck, Paola Capriolo, Francesca Duranti, Rosetta Loy, Giuliana Morandini, Marta Morazzoni, Anna Maria Ortese, Sandra Petrignanni, Fabrizia Ramondino, Elisabetta Rasy and Francesca Sanvitale) have achieved both critical acclaim and public recognition and their texts show the richness of voices, topics and structures in Italian women's writing today."

This brief offers a unique and innovative account of the role of internet and digital technologies in human smuggling and trafficking. It explores new illegal paths through the web by analyzing how traffickers and smugglers use the visible and dark web during different phases of the process, including recruitment, transportation, and exploitation. Featuring case studies from two European countries, Italy and the United Kingdom, it outlines the types of websites used in these processes, how they are used, and common behavior patterns. With a view of transnational criminal activities involving actors from individual criminal entrepreneurs to organized crime groups and fluid large criminal networks, this brief will be of use to law enforcement, researchers of trafficking and organized crime, and policy makers.
