Depuis les trente glorieuses, le développement touristique a suivi un modèle de croissance forte reposant sur la valorisation du foncier par l'immobilier de loisirs. Cet ouvrage retrace l'évolution de la pensée et du système de production de l'aménagement touristique, des années 1950 aux dernières lois de décentralisation ou de régionalisation en Europe occidentale. Il met en évidence les changements des modes opératoires et des pratiques professionnelles qui, dans le projet de station et de territoire touristique, articulent les moyens avec les objectifs et les outils de l'urbanisme, de la planification touristique.
