Il presente saggio costituisce la sintesi ragionata di esperienze di studio, didattiche e scientifiche, maturate dapprima presso la facoltà di Giurisprudenza dell'Università di Roma "La Sapienza" e, successivamente, presso la facoltà di Lettere dell'Università di Roma Tre. Proprio da quest'ultima esperienza didattica, è scaturito il desiderio di fornire uno strumento di lettura il più possibile chiaro ed aderente alle esigenze di una cultura giuridica di base a quanti non provengono necessariamente da studi di diritto. Anche coloro che hanno scelto detti studi potranno comunque trovarvi delle spiegazioni e dei chiarimenti immediati, per interrogativi che non sempre i manuali istituzionali sono in grado di offrire in prima lettura, data la necessaria vastità dei concetti e degli istituti che vi sono trattati, tra i quali solo chi ha già consumato il dono della gioventù, è in grado di cogliere l'essenziale e di offrirlo a coloro che tuttora ne gustano il frutto. Il lavoro che ora si viene dunque a licenziare, si articola in una carrellata sulle grandi linee del diritto privato, del diritto pubblico, di quello penale ed infine di un sistema di regole universalmente condivisibili, cui potrebbero uniformarsi i singoli ordinamenti positivi di un' agognata era di pace. L'auspicio cui si spera altresí di venire incontro, riguarda coloro che si interrogano sull'antico rapporto dialettico fra il diritto come è ed il diritto come dovrebbe essere.

In research on Information Structure, there is an ongoing discussion about the role of contrast. While most linguists consider contrast to be compatible with both focus and topic, some argue that it is an autonomous IS category. Contrast has been shown to be encoded by different linguistic means, such as specific morphemes, adverbials, clefts, prosodic cues. Hence, this concept is also related to other domains, in particular morphosyntax and prosody. The precise way in which they interact is however not yet entirely clear. Moreover, from a methodological point of view, the identification and annotation of contrast in corpora is not straightforward. This volume provides a selection of articles discussing the definition of contrast, the importance of distinguishing different types of contrast, the use of several encoding strategies, and the annotation of contrast in corpora using the Question Under Discussion Model. The contributions offer data on English, French, French Belgian Sign Language, German, Hindi, Italian and Spanish.

The volume traces the founding critical theories of the autobiographical genre, from the Enlightenment period to the most recent developments, which, since the Sixties and the essays of Roy Pascal and Jean Starobinski, have had a greater and greater influence. It offers – in contrast to the essential, and by now classic, definition of Philippe Lejeune – an increased effectiveness of the poem to express the narrative purposes of autobiography, recognizing poetic writing that has the extraordinary ability to say what “the mortal language does not say,” to quote Leopardi. The works of Seamus Heaney, Thom Gunn, Carlos Barral and Jaime Gil de Biedma are analyzed here, and show an unveiling of the self through memories, places and objects that often characterize them and that allow, to whomever recalls one’s own experience through writing, the recovery and restoration of essential meanings to the reconstruction not only of subjective identity, but also of one’s own community.
