Over 50% of today's leaders have never received any kind of training on how to lead people. That means half of the bosses in the world receive no on-the-job training for the job of leading and managing their people. This has created a phenomenon called The Great Exodus, where the biggest contributor to employees voluntarily leaving their jobs is their direct boss. Fortunately, there is an emerging trend of leaders and business owners who value their teams and talent, leaders who care. That is who this book is for. The CARE Equation takes you into the heart of what it means to lead with empathy and build a sense of psychological safety in your team and organization. Alex Draper, CEO of DX Learning has spent decades working with leaders and teams across a broad swath of industry, and developed The CARE Equation to solve the biggest problems of leading people. The CARE Equation unpacks how focusing on Clarity, Autonomy & Relationships builds real Equity among your team, allowing them to perform to their highest ability, with less direct oversight. You will learn how to unpack eight cognitive biases, like the Curse of Knowledge and The Framing Effect, to be lead from a place of clarity, self-awareness and authenticity. Take your place at the forefront of this leadership revolution and solve The CARE Equation for yourself, and accelerate your organization today!

Globally, the health sector faces significant demands for reform and improvement to meet the needs of the 21st Century. To achieve that goal, highly sophisticated and capable leaders are required across all dimensions of the health system. This book describes the key challenges that demand reform, why better leadership is the source code for better system performance, and the issues that stand in the way of getting that leadership. It includes substantive treatment of the modern democratic challenges that healthcare leaders face; and the essence of what it means to be a leader in today’s world. The essence of leadership itself is described, and the case made for the need for people to use the workplace as the place to develop leadership rather than relying solely on formal programs. It will also outline a self-directed learning process that any individual leader—citizen, clinician, or senior executive—can use to develop their own leadership capability, and thus become more active as a leader of change. This book addresses the need for leaders to think on a system-wide scale. A second part of the book focuses primarily on the Canadian Health system and LEADS in a Caring Environment capabilities framework, and the link between LEADS and frameworks in Australia and the UK. LEADS was developed through a partnership between members of the Healthcare Leaders Association of British Columbia and the Canadian College of Health Leaders, the Canadian Health Leadership Network and Royal Roads University. Currently it is stewarded by a not-for-profit collaboration that has endorsed LEADS as an evidence-informed set of national expectations for Canadian health leaders. LEADS has been endorsed by many health organizations in almost all provinces in Canada as a foundation for their talent management programs in leadership (development and succession planning). The book will address the research foundations for the LEADS framework; how it was developed; the framework’s contents; its congruence with other national frameworks, and how LEADS can be used as a model to envisage and plan change.

“Quiet quitting, hybrid workplace, toxic boss . . . How do you lead today? A good place to start is by reading this book.” —Keith Ferrazzi, #1 New York Times–bestselling author Today, most employees stay or leave an organization because of their direct manager. Are team members provided what they need to be their best self and do their best work, or is it withheld by someone above them? Are their managers fulfilling the role of a people-first leader? Does company leadership make the working environment a psychologically safe space that maximizes both human and business performance? Some do, most don’t—only because most aren’t trained to. But how do leaders build high-performing, psychologically safe teams? Alex Draper, the Founder of DX Learning, has created the CARE Equation: a four-part playbook that will help leaders establish an environment employees not only feel comfortable speaking up in, but one where they want to stay at and feel like they can win in. In following the research of positive leadership and psychology, Draper’s CARE Equation is based on the idea that when leaders provide clarity (C), give autonomy (A), build relationships (R), and establish equity (E), their teams are more likely to be psychologically safe and perform at their highest potential. CARE to Win is the much-needed modern and relevant guide for managers, their employees, and organizations. It outlines the importance of each CARE component and breaks down internal biases that keep leaders from CAREing to the fullest. Through personal stories, research, and exercises, Alex shows that when leaders CARE, everyone wins—because CARE is the human skill that gets the hard stuff done. Become the leader that sets your team up to win. Every. Single. Day.

Dare To Lead written by Brené Brown and has been published by Random House this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-10-11 with Business & Economics categories.

In her #1 NYT bestsellers, Brené Brown taught us what it means to dare greatly, rise strong and brave the wilderness. Now, based on new research conducted with leaders, change makers and culture shifters, she’s showing us how to put those ideas into practice so we can step up and lead. Leadership is not about titles, status and power over people. Leaders are people who hold themselves accountable for recognising the potential in people and ideas, and developing that potential. This is a book for everyone who is ready to choose courage over comfort, make a difference and lead. When we dare to lead, we don't pretend to have the right answers; we stay curious and ask the right questions. We don't see power as finite and hoard it; we know that power becomes infinite when we share it and work to align authority and accountability. We don't avoid difficult conversations and situations; we lean into the vulnerability that’s necessary to do good work. But daring leadership in a culture that's defined by scarcity, fear and uncertainty requires building courage skills, which are uniquely human. The irony is that we're choosing not to invest in developing the hearts and minds of leaders at the same time we're scrambling to figure out what we have to offer that machines can't do better and faster. What can we do better? Empathy, connection and courage to start. Brené Brown spent the past two decades researching the emotions that give meaning to our lives. Over the past seven years, she found that leaders in organisations ranging from small entrepreneurial start-ups and family-owned businesses to non-profits, civic organisations and Fortune 50 companies, are asking the same questions: How do you cultivate braver, more daring leaders? And, how do you embed the value of courage in your culture? Dare to Lead answers these questions and gives us actionable strategies and real examples from her new research-based, courage-building programme. Brené writes, ‘One of the most important findings of my career is that courage can be taught, developed and measured. Courage is a collection of four skill sets supported by twenty-eight behaviours. All it requires is a commitment to doing bold work, having tough conversations and showing up with our whole hearts. Easy? No. Choosing courage over comfort is not easy. Worth it? Always. We want to be brave with our lives and work. It's why we're here.’

The premise is that we are all leaders. When we care enough to want to create a better future in which to live and work, then we are ready to lead. Exploring the context of the passion which calls us to lead brings into focus our personal framework for leadership learning. As we learn, we discover, develop and nourish the leader within. This book links together the why, the who and the what of leadership in a personalized, but nonprescriptive format. Reflective questions and journalling suggestions assist the reader in a journey that is unique for each individual and in each context. Suggested resources and activities for learning leadership make this a useful tool in classroom or group settings as well as for an emerging leader. The book does not advocate any single theory or approach, but guides the reader to a personal understanding of leadership and its applications.
