Parental Experiences Of Unschooling written by Khara Schonfeld-Karan and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-08-15 with Education categories.

This volume explores unschooling as a growing phenomenon within the broader field of home education and considers the unique position of parents who engage in this self-directed form of education with their children. Drawing on an in-depth hermeneutic phenomenological study, the volume investigates the double consciousness of parents as they balance the costs/benefits of unschooling and navigate the roles of leading/following and parenting/teaching in the education and upbringing of their children. The author conceptualizes unschooling in the context of curriculum theory and situates it within the larger home education movement. By highlighting the fluctuating, (un)divided position that parents assume, the volume examines how learning and living are rendered inseparable in unschooling, thereby revealing unschoolers’ experience of a curriculum of learning-through-living. This book will be of great interest to researchers, scholars, and postgraduates working across the fields of curriculum studies, parenting and family studies, and the sociology of education.

Teaching Learning And Living written by Ann Lieberman and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-03-15 with Education categories.

By tracing the development of Ann Lieberman’s commitment to exploring the complex, entwined nature of teaching, learning and living, this book reflects on how research in teacher leadership and development has progressed and changed over the last fifty years. This personal account highlights Lieberman’s learning as she engaged in research to build collaborative ways of working. Portraying the fight for teacher participation in research studies about teaching, schooling and teacher improvement so that the complexity of their lives would be represented, and writing about the consideration of teacher’s work in any efforts for school improvement, the book discusses the initial collaboration between researchers and teachers. It then proceeds to outline a number of research projects that document the changing relationship of research and teaching and offers guidance on some of the most important and successful programs and strategies in the field. It questions issues such as how to create a culture in the school that is supportive of teachers, and how research can best assist teachers to improve their work. Teaching, Learning and Living is a personal, historical and professional look at the growth in knowledge that began to change the views of research and teaching and is a must-read for anyone interested in the development of teacher education.

Learning To Live Together written by David A. Hamburg M.D. and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004-04-08 with Psychology categories.

With a view to deepening our understanding of sources of hatred and prejudice, this book uses a developmental and evolutionary perspective to explore and explain the process by which our beliefs are conveyed to the youngest members of society. Discussing the psychological obstacles to peaceful relations between groups, the authors focus on the developmental processes by which we can work to diminish ethnocentrism, prejudice, and hatred, which children learn from a very early age. Until now, scholarship and practice in international relations have gravely neglected crucial psychological aspects of these terrible problems and have not yet explored the educational opportunities related to them. Addressing these promising lines of inquiry and innovation, this book fosters a more humane and less violent development in childhood and adolescence. Educators, religious leaders, developmental and social psychologists, will find this a valuable resource, as will a socially concerned segment of the public who are looking for practical ways to work for peace.

In 1976 while struggling in high school, special education was just finding a foothold in the hallways of Americas educational systems. By the end of that year, regular and special educators were discussing such issues as roles, responsibilities, needs, and resources to fulfill the mandates of federal legislation (PL 94-142), but during that time Richard Evans became just another high school dropout. He dropped out of high school never understanding why school was so difficult until 1992 while having a psychological evaluation for depression. He was diagnosed with two distinct learning disabilities (Developmental Reading Disorder and Expressive Writing Disorder). Later Dyslexia and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder would be added to the list. Just knowing that his problem had a name and that he was not stupid gave him hope. He now knows that just because he learns differently and writes poorly, it does not mean that he is stupid. In 2004 Richard completed his academic endeavors by earning a Ph. D. in Educational Psychology from Texas A & M University.
