Der erste Teil dieser Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit dem Begriff der Legasthenie. Ein geschichtlicher Überblick soll erklären, warum es auch heute noch viele kontroverse Meinungen zu diesem Thema gibt. Zur aktuellen Behandlung der Thematik in den verschiedenen Bundesländern gibt es rechtliche Grundlagen zur Förderung betroffener Kinder und Familien. Diese werden kurz dargestellt. Im zweiten Teil dieser Arbeit wird auf theoretische Erklärungsansätze zurückgegriffen. Mit Hilfe der Theorien von Talcott Parsons, Jürgen Habermas und Niklas Luhmann wird herausgestellt, für wen Legasthenie ein Problem darstellt und wie es strukturiert ist. Anhand von allgemeinen Sozialisationstheorien sollen die Aufgaben der Schule und der Familie aufgezeigt werden. Beim Vergleich dieser beiden Instanzen lässt sich schnell feststellen, dass es aufgrund von unterschiedlichen Erwartungen und Aufgaben mit dem Auftreten von Legasthenie zu Konflikten kommt.
