This publication is the result of an international and interdisciplinary expert meeting at Technische Universität Berlin, in March 2020. The aim of the expert meeting was to collaboratively write and publish a book, within five days, on the central question: Which organizational structures and processes at universities support a strategic as well as innovative campus development? As experts with an interdisciplinary background including the social sciences, public real estate, urban planning, architecture and landscape architecture, we could examine the question from a holistic perspective and gain new insights. The resulting manifesto states necessary steps and strategies to create innovative and sustainable hybrid environments for universities. It addresses all decision makers – executives, practitioners and contributors alike – as all of us face the challenge of limited resources and needing to do more with less.

Drawing on recent work in sport studies, business and management, health, science, and law, this book offers a critical examination of the latest published research on sport and environmental sustainability. It examines how strategic management, policy and education influence the relationship between sport and the natural environment, and how the transmission and advancement of knowledge via research journals can, and should, have an impact on policy and practice. Covering sport at all levels, from professional to non-profit, and across all sectors of sport management, from marketing and events to facilities and communications, Sport and Environmental Sustainability makes a powerful argument for an awareness of, and need for, environmental sustainability in sport. Chapters outline the research and methods used, expose gaps in the literature and encourage opportunities for future inter-disciplinary research. Topics include sport and climate change, sport and safeguarding air and water quality, education for sustainability, and sport policy. This is an invaluable resource for researchers in sport and environmental sustainability, and academics working in sport management, business, recreation and leisure studies, and sustainability programs, as well as sport policymakers and industry practitioners.

The conceptual integration of health promoting programs and structures in research, education and administration is crucial because these programs are becoming increasingly important for universities in the race to gain the best. How do we promote the individual's responsibility for healthy living? How do we promote health as a value in the academic culture? How can we promote the individual health literacy and encourage and develop health promoting structures? The present volume deals with the Healthy-Campus-Konferenz (Healthy Campus Conference) which gave universities and their health initiatives a forum to discuss and optimize their programs. All initiatives deal with the sustainable promotion and empowerment of individual health literacy for all academic target groups (condition oriented prevention) as well as the development of health promoting structures (structural prevention).

How visual art has been enriched by dance, and dance has been shaped by art, in unprecedented and exciting ways for the past fifty years. Move. Choreographing You explores the interaction between visual art and dance since the 1960s. This beautifully illustrated book, published in connection with a major exhibition, focuses on visual artists and choreographers who create sculptures and installations that direct the movements of audiences—making them dancers and active participants. Move shows that choreography is not merely about the notation of movement on paper or in film but about the ways the body inhabits sculpture and installations. The book documents some of the diverse but interconnected ways that visual art and choreography have come together over the past fifty years. Among the artists whose work helped to forge the art-dance connection are Allan Kaprow, Robert Morris, Lygia Clark, Bruce Nauman, Trisha Brown, Simone Forti, Franz West, Mike Kelley, Isaac Julien, and William Forsythe. Artists from a younger generation who helped to bring the worlds of art and dance together are also looked at—Trisha Donnelly, Christian Jankowski, and Tino Sehgal among them. Move also features new commissions by leading international artists and reconstructions of important works from the past as well as an illustrated contextual archive and timeline.

Wild Pedagogies written by Bob Jickling and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-06-22 with Education categories.

This book explores why the concept of wild pedagogy is an essential aspect of education in these times; a re-negotiated education that acknowledges the necessity of listening to voices in a more than human world, and (re)learning how to dwell in a place. As the geological epoch inexorably shifts to the Anthropocene, the authors argue that learning to live in and engage with the world is increasingly crucial in such times of uncertainty. The editors and contributors examine what wild pedagogy can truly become, and how it can be relevant across disciplinary boundaries: offering six touchstones as working tools to help educators forge an onward path. This collaborative work will be of interest to students and scholars of wild pedagogies, alternative education and the Anthropocene, and for all those engaged in re-wilding education.

Falling Liquid Films written by S. Kalliadasis and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-09-24 with Mathematics categories.

Falling Liquid Films gives a detailed review of state-of-the-art theoretical, analytical and numerical methodologies, for the analysis of dissipative wave dynamics and pattern formation on the surface of a film falling down a planar inclined substrate. This prototype is an open-flow hydrodynamic instability, that represents an excellent paradigm for the study of complexity in active nonlinear media with energy supply, dissipation and dispersion. It will also be of use for a more general understanding of specific events characterizing the transition to spatio-temporal chaos and weak/dissipative turbulence. Particular emphasis is given to low-dimensional approximations for such flows through a hierarchy of modeling approaches, including equations of the boundary-layer type, averaged formulations based on weighted residuals approaches and long-wave expansions. Whenever possible the link between theory and experiment is illustrated, and, as a further bridge between the two, the development of order-of-magnitude estimates and scaling arguments is used to facilitate the understanding of basic, underlying physics. This monograph will appeal to advanced graduate students in applied mathematics, science or engineering undertaking research on interfacial fluid mechanics or studying fluid mechanics as part of their program. It will also be of use to researchers working on both applied, fundamental theoretical and experimental aspects of thin film flows, as well as engineers and technologists dealing with processes involving isothermal or heated films. This monograph is largely self-contained and no background on interfacial fluid mechanics is assumed.
