Kino gatunkowe kręcone zwłaszcza w demoludach, ale i dziś kreowane w określonej sytuacji geopolitycznej, z jednej strony zaspokaja zapotrzebowanie na atrakcyjną – wizualnie i treściowo – filmową rozrywkę, z drugiej zaś staje się medium propagandowym albo wprost przeciwnie – demonstrującym oficjalny, politkulturowy dyskurs. Jednak Europejskie kino gatunków 3 to przede wszystkim podróż do barwnego, kinematograficznego królestwa westernów, kinowej fantastyki, historii i sportu na ekranie, realizowanego przez europejskich filmowców nie tylko zapatrzonych w hollywoodzkie wzorce, ale też wypracowujących swój własny, oryginalny idiom kina gatunkowego. Piotr Kletowski „Wchodzące w skład tomu artykuły wpisują się w przeważającej większości w refleksję nad kinem Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej. Już sam ten fakt przekłada się na znaczenie publikacji. This book was written for people who would like to learn more about Polish K-Pop fandom, but it can also be of help for those who are looking for some basic information about fan studies or K-Pop in general. Korean music has only recently started to gain popularity in Poland (as well as in other European countries). Some may affiliate K-Pop with Psy’s Gangnam Style, a track which was virtually inescapable in the summer of 2012, but around that time the European K-Pop fandom was already well-developed, as evidenced by the Korean group Big Bang winning MTV European Music Award in 2011, or the flashmob fans organized in front of the Louvre museum that forced one of the biggest Korean entertainment companies to organize one more concert of their artists in the same year. Nevertheless, K-Pop’s international popularity peak is often being connected to BTS’ success, when they were awarded the Top Social Artist Award and successfully performed during the Billboard Music Awards in 2017. It would be difficult to say how many K-Pop fans there are in Poland now and how the number changed over the years, but it is still undoubtedly growing.

Employing a wide range of examples from Uncle Tom's Cabin and Birth of a Nation to Zelig and Personal Best, Janet Staiger argues that a historical examination of spectators' responses to films can make a valuable contribution to the history, criticism, and philosophy of cultural products. She maintains that as artifacts, films do not contain immanent meanings, that differences among interpretations have historical bases, and that these variations are due to social, political, and economic conditions as well as the viewers' constructed images of themselves. After proposing a theory of reception study, the author demonstrates its application mainly through analyzing the varying responses of audiences to certain films at specific moments in history. Staiger gives special attention to how questions of class, gender, sexual preference, race, and ethnicity enter into film viewers' interpretations. Her analysis reflects recent developments in post-structuralism, cognitive psychology, psychoanalysis, and cultural studies, and includes a discussion of current reader-response models in literary and film studies as well as an alternative approach for thinking about historical readers and spectators.
