Não podemos nos esquecer de que Aristóteles ensina que o intelecto vem de fora. Mesmo vindo de fora, “ele permanece na alma durante toda a vida do homem. A afirmação de que ‘vem de fora’ significa que ele é irredutível ao corpo por sua natureza intrínseca e que, portanto, é transcendente ao sensível” (REALE e ANTISERI, 1991, V. I.. p. 202). Por ser assim, o homem possui algo a mais que a dimensão corpórea. Existe na pessoa humana uma dimensão meta-empírica, supra-sensível, a espiritualidade. Com esta dimensão espiritual, o ser humano tem em si o divino. Não é à toa que Agostinho filosofa com profundidade, não mais sobre o homem corpóreo, o sensível, o redutível à morte física.

"...[I]n the autumn of 1926, on the pretext of an alleged attempt on his life, Mussolini decided to make an end of even the semblance of bourgeois democracy that still survived. All remaining opposition organisations and their publications were banned, and a new, massive series of arrests was launched throughout the country. Among those arrested was Antonio Gramsci. Gramsci was a member of parliament -- but the régime was no longer interested in niceties about parliamentary immunity. He had also, since August 1924, been the general secretary of the Communist Party -- though of course under such political conditions the identity of party officials was kept secret. He was 35 years old. At his trial in 1928, the official prosecutor ended he peroration with the famous demand to the judge: "We must stop this brain working for twenty years!" But, although Gramsci was to be dead long before those twenty years were up, released, his health broken, only in time to die under guard in a clinic rather than in prison, yet for as long as his physique held otu his jailers did not succeed in stopping his brain from working. The product of those years of slow death in prison were the 2,848 pages of handwritten notes which he left to be smuggled out of the clinic and out of Italy after his death, and of which this volume is a selection." -- Pages xvii-xviii of Introduction.

Em sua 1ª edição no ano de 2016, o Congresso Internacional Conhecimentos Pertinentes para a Educação na América Latina - EDUPALA teve como norte a perspectiva teórica descolonial e a possibilidade de compreensão do mundo a partir do local em que se vive, valorizando a história cultural e regional. As reflexões sobre esses pressupostos potencializaram o protagonismo na pesquisa, ensino e extensão, tripé que fundamenta as ações da Universidade do Planalto Catarinense - UNIPLAC. Na 2ª edição de 2018, ano em que se comemorou os 13 anos de existência do Curso de Mestrado em Educação, nossos olhares se voltaram ao "formador latinoamericano". Campo ainda pouco explorado pela Educação, a formação de formadores inclui discussões sobre a formação de professores, mediadores sociais, agentes de mudança, gestores, educadores sociais e demais profissionais e pesquisadores da área da Educação. A 3ª edição de 2022, que neste ano comemora 17 anos do curso de Mestrado em Educação, tem como eixo: "Diálogos e desafios para a educação democrática na América Latina". Considerando o atual cenário geopolítico e social, brasileiro e latino-americano, o evento teve a proposta de apresentar diálogos, problematizações e alternativas para os dilemas impostos à educação democrática no tempo presente em níveis local, nacional e global. Deste modo, além das conferências e sessões temáticas, serão acolhidas propostas de comunicação nos GTs. Cabe registrar que o III EDUPALA estava originalmente previsto para ocorrer em 2020. No entanto, em virtude do aparecimento da Covid-19, a qual produziu um cenário de paralisação e reestruturação das atividades sociais, o evento foi realizado em 2022 e de forma remota. Sendo assim, o III EDUPALA foi realizado nos dias 26, 27 e 28 de setembro de 2022 na Universidade do Planalto Catarinense - UNIPLAC, em Lages, no Planalto Serrano Catarinense, no formato remoto, online e síncrono. O evento foi organizado pelo corpo docente do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação (PPGE/UNIPLAC) e contou com a presença de estudiosos e pesquisadores brasileiros e estrangeiros que discutem a Educação na América Latina. De identidade dinâmica, professores e formadores se colocaram frente ao desafio de construírem o conhecimento e a si mesmos a partir das experiências, diálogos teóricos e discussões que emergem nos diversos espaços formativos. A proposta foi de promover um amplo debate sobre a formação, não mais ancorada num paradigma reducionista e conteudista, mas capaz de considerar os sujeitos em seus contextos, visibilizando suas histórias de vida, experiências e saberes. Nesse sentido, o EDUPALA se constitui como um espaço de debates e reflexões sobre os conhecimentos pertinentes à formação de formadores, principalmente pela possibilidade de repensar práticas pedagógicas, sob uma perspectiva de trabalho inovadora, participativa e democrática.
