Der didaktische Ansatz greift interdisziplinär vorliegende Erkenntnisse aus Theorie und Praxis auf und bereitet sie anwendungsorientiert für Fachkräfte im Berufsbildungsbereich von Werkstätten auf. An bundesweit zwanzig Standorten wurde PlaUsiBel in der Praxis erprobt. PlaUsiBel bietet Fachkräften in Werkstätten, aber auch an weiteren Orten der beruflichen Rehabilitation ein didaktisches und methodisches Grundwissen sowie eine Planungsstruktur zur Gestaltung von Lehren und Lernen. Damit leistet der Ansatz einen Beitrag zur Sicherung beruflicher Teilhabe von Menschen mit Behinderungen. Der Band berichtet die Ergebnisse des Forschungsprojekts "Gute Bildungspraxis: Handlungsempfehlungen zur methodischen Gestaltung Beruflicher Bildung in Werkstätten" (GuBiP).

The Cold War was not only about the imperial ambitions of the super powers, their military strategies, and antagonistic ideologies. It was also about conflicting worldviews and their correlates in the daily life of the societies involved. The term "Cold War Culture" is often used in a broad sense to describe media influences, social practices, and symbolic representations as they shape, and are shaped by, international relations. Yet, it remains in question whether -- or to what extent -- the Cold War Culture model can be applied to European societies, both in the East and the West. While every European country had to adapt to the constraints imposed by the Cold War, individual development was affected by specific conditions as detailed in these chapters. Despite the growing interest in general European history, the European dimension is surprisingly absent from the writing of contemporary history. In most countries, the historiography on the 20th century continues to be dominated by national perspectives. Although there is cross-national work on specific topics such as occupation or resistance, transnational conceptions and narratives of contemporary European history have yet to be worked out. This volume focuses on the development of a shared conception of recent European history that will be required as an underpinning for further economic and political integration so as to make lasting cooperation on the old continent possible. It tries to overcome the traditional national framing that ironically persists just at a time when organized efforts to transform Europe from an object of debate to an actual subject have some chance of succeeding in making it into a polity in its own right.

Um hierzu Grundlagen im organisatorischen und didaktischen Bereich vorzugeben, bringt der Band erstmals die Disziplinen Behindertenpädagogik, Erwachsenenbildung und Soziologie zusammen. Dabei wird jeder Beitrag aus der Perspektive der anderen Disziplin kommentiert und in seiner Übertragbarkeit oder Differenz eingeschätzt. Durch die Vernetzung der unterschiedlichen Zugänge zur Inklusion werden die Praxisfelder der Erwachsenenbildung fruchtbar gemacht. Zunächst wird der Inklusions-Begriff aus Sicht der wissenschaftlichen Disziplinen genauer definiert und beleuchtet. How reconsidering digital media and participatory cultures from the standpoint of disability allows for a full understanding of accessibility. While digital media can offer many opportunities for civic and cultural participation, this technology is not equally easy for everyone to use. Hardware, software, and cultural expectations combine to make some technologies an easier fit for some bodies than for others. A YouTube video without closed captions or a social network site that is incompatible with a screen reader can restrict the access of users who are hard of hearing or visually impaired. Often, people with disabilities require accommodation, assistive technologies, or other forms of aid to make digital media accessible—useable—for them. Restricted Access investigates digital media accessibility—the processes by which media is made usable by people with particular needs—and argues for the necessity of conceptualizing access in a way that will enable greater participation in all forms of mediated culture. Drawing on disability and cultural studies, Elizabeth Ellcessor uses an interrogatory framework based around issues of regulation, use, content, form, and experience to examine contemporary digital media. Through interviews with policy makers and accessibility professionals, popular culture and archival materials, and an ethnographic study of internet use by people with disabilities, Ellcessor reveals the assumptions that undergird contemporary technologies and participatory cultures. Restricted Access makes the crucial point that if digital media open up opportunities for individuals to create and participate, but that technology only facilitates the participation of those who are already privileged, then its progressive potential remains unrealized. Engagingly written with powerful examples, Ellcessor demonstrates the importance of alternate uses, marginalized voices, and invisible innovations in the context of disability identities to push us to rethink digital media accessibility.

The provision of assistive technology is an important individual and collective service of the welfare state. The state plays a significant role towards linking users and products, and the matching of devices and users is both a science and an art. However, many people feel it is stigmatising to use individually designed assistive technologies as they often, in a subtle way, convey discriminating barriers in society. The major challenges of assistive technology are thus to reduce social exclusion and marginalisation and, importantly, to reduce individual risks and societal costs related to non-use due to deficiencies in usability, aesthetics and design of the technologies. This groundbreaking book discusses the relationships among society, disability and technology by using different empirical examples (e.g., school, everyday life) to show why the combination of disability studies and STS-studies (science, technology and society) is a fruitful approach to understanding and meeting these challenges.
