Inhaltsangabe:Einleitung: Mit Ende der siebziger Jahre wurden die ersten Gedanken zu Lerntypen, Lerntypologien oder auch Lernstilen veröffentlicht. Im Jahr 1972 haben Dunn und Dunn aufgrund einer Fragebogenaktion ein Inventar von möglichen Lerntypen aufgestellt. Auch Vester (1975) berichtet von einer Fragebogenaktion zur Ermittlung der Lernpräferenzen von Schülern. In weiteren Untersuchungen wurde bestätigt, dass sich Individuen nach den bei ihnen dominierenden Verarbeitungsmodalitäten oder Repräsentationsystemen typologisieren lassen. Diese Lerntypen werden je nach Forschungsansatz unterschiedlich benannt. Weitere Überlegungen zu etwaigen Lerntypen wurden von vielen wissenschaftlichen Strömungen aufgegriffen und in mannigfachen Differenzierungen, zum Teil auch ohne Ansatz für die Praxis oder entsprechenden wissenschaftlichen Beweis, stark verbreitet. Viele dieser Theorien haben bereits Einzug in die Pädagogik an Schulen und Hochschulen gefunden. Zusätzlich werden in Managementseminaren viele an diesen Konzepten angelehnte Fort- und Weiterbildungen angeboten. In der fachlichen Diskussion ist gerade diese unkritische Verbreitung und Popularisierung der Hauptkritikpunkt. Aber auch von wissenschaftlicher Seite sind weiterführende Studien in diesem Themenbereich, von Lernstilen, Lerntypen oder auch Lernstrategien, durchgeführt worden. Diese Arbeit soll jene Ansätze aufgreifen und weiterführen, so dass ein weiterer Stein dem Mosaik der Erforschung von Lerntypologien, Lernstrategien und des Lernverhaltens insgesamt hinzugefügt werden kann. Es soll gezeigt werden welche Theorien bestehen und welche Theorien sich für einen effizienten und effektiven Einsatz in der Personalentwicklung eignen. Des Weiteren soll ein Mittel, in Form eines Fragebogens, aus der bereits vorhandenen Vielfalt solcher Instrumente zur einfachen Bestimmung von eben solchen Lerntypen, ausgewählt werden. Eine wichtige Grundannahme dieser Arbeit ist, dass Lerntypen gerade in Zeiten von Kostenreduktions- oder Kosteneinsparungsprozessen im Personalmanagement einen Beitrag zur besseren Gestaltung von Personalentwicklungsmaßnahmen leisten können und sich hierin eine große Chance zur Optimierung von Adressaten- und Teilnehmeranalysen bietet. Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit sollen also folgende Fragen geklärt werden: Ist das Konzept der Lerntypen für die Personalentwicklung einsetzbar? Schließlich werden wichtige Megatrends skizziert, auf deren Basis Anforderungen an das kulturelle Profil von Organisationen des 21. Jahrhunderts abgeleitet werden. Das praxisorientierte Buch enthält zahlreiche Beispiele aus Unternehmen und Exkurse zu aktuellen Themen aus Gesellschaft, Politik und allgemeiner Lebensführung.
