La prise en charge du patient aphasique a connu ses dernières années de considé-rables avancées. La « philosophie » même de la rééducation a évolué, en se déta-chant d’une remédiation du langage et de la parole issue des conceptions classiques d’un support cérébral organisé en centres, au profit d’une conception en réseaux des activités de langage, et en développant des approches écologiques et pragmatiques traitant au sens large la communication. La rigueur de l’approche en neuropsycho-logie cognitive et de l’approche fonctionnelle se sont ainsi associées pour mettre en place des programmes thérapeutiques personnalisés et adaptés au patient. Cet ouvrage se propose de faire le tour des connaissances actuelles liées aux aphasies, depuis leur compréhension et leur diagnostic jusqu’à leur rééducation. Après un rappel de l’histoire des aphasies et du fonctionnement normal du langage, les auteurs traitent de la démarche diagnostique, évaluation pluridisciplinaire qui s’appuie sur les examens neurologiques, aphasiologiques et neuropsychologiques. Les conduites de rééducations de l’aphasie chez l’adulte sont ensuite développées, non comme une somme de techniques, mais plus comme un cadre de réflexion sur la remédiation en aphasiologie. En fin d’ouvrage, des études de cas permettent d’illustrer et d’appliquer à des situations concrètes l’ensemble des connaissances et des notions abordées. Cette seconde édition propose une mise à jour de l’ensemble des données : les différentes parties ont été revues et étoffées notamment une partie entièrement consacrée à l’intervention orthophonique qui réunit et enrichit les démarches diagnostiques et la rééducation qui était séparées dans la précédente édition. Les illustrations sont également maintenant disponibles en couleur et les études de cas cliniques ont été entièrement renouvelés.
