Le monde viticole connaît depuis quelques années des revirements et des bouleversements qui n'ont de cesse de le déstabiliser. Pour survivre face aux vins du nouveau monde, les producteurs historiques (France, Italie) doivent trouver de nouveaux moyens afin de faire face à la concurrence. Depuis maintenant une décennie, ces actions se concentrent tel un faisceau vers la questionpaysagère. En effet, un paysage viticole regroupe le vigneron, le terroir, la technique, le breuvage et celui qui le déguste. Chaque paysage étant unique, il nous a semblé intéressant de nous pencher sur le paysage viticole du cirque de Cilaos. Mais, en plus d'être un vignoble de montagne, la spécificité est double puisque coexistent deux paysages viticoles avec leur occupation de l'espace propre. Néanmoins, le paysage, de manière générale, peut s'appréhender de différentes façons. L'approche privilégiée ici est celle de la médiance. Ce concept emprunté à la langue et à la culture nippone rend compte du sens qui est conféré à un milieu par le paysage qui est porté par celui-ci. Un questionnaire photographique a permis d'apporter des éléments de réponses positifs quant à la manière de comprendre Cilaos au travers de ces paysages viticoles
