On aurait tort de s'imaginer que les bibliographies ne servent qu'aux chercheurs ou aux étudiants. Elles sont faites au contraire pour être utilisées et consultées par tout un chacun. Comparables aux dictionnaires ou aux encyclopédies qu'on trouve dans presque tous les foyers, elles constituent, comme ces derniers, un outil de référence, c'est-à-dire le complément naturel d'une bibliothèque. les deux volumes qui viennent aujourd'hui s'ajouter a ceux que nous avions fait paraître en janvier 2004 achèvent une série qui, sur près de 3 000 pages, fournit la bibliographie de quelque trente-cinq auteurs français des XIXe et XXe siècles, dont le seul point commun est d'avoir été considérés, d'une manière ou d'une autre, à une époque ou à une autre, comme des auteurs " de droite ". Ces auteurs n'ont évidemment ni la même importance, ni la même stature ni la même actualité. Leurs œuvres sont elles-mêmes d'une ampleur très inégale. Certaines de nos bibliographies n'occupent que quelques dizaines de pages, alors que d'autres sont énormes, comme celle de Renan (plus d'un millier d'entrées) ou d'Alexis de Tocqueville (plus de 700 entrées, sans oublier les centaines d'éditions différentes de La démocratie en Amérique). Aucun de ces écrivains ou de ces théoriciens, pourtant, ne mérite ne tomber dans l'oubli - et ce, quel que soit l'appréciation que l'on peut porter sur eux, la sympathie ou l'antipathie qu'ils inspirent. Parvenu au terme de ce long travail, je m'estimerais pour ma part satisfait si ces bibliographies, en suscitant quelques envies de lire ou de relire, en éveillant des curiosités nouvelles (ou en ranimant quelques curiosités éteintes), pouvaient précisément empêcher que tombent dans l'oubli des noms qui appartiennent, non seulement à l'histoire de la " droite ", mais tout simplement à l'histoire des idées. Toute œuvre encore vivante est une oasis dans un désert qui croît.

The creation of new lexical units and patterns has been studied in different research frameworks, focusing on either system-internal or system-external aspects, from which no comprehensive view has emerged. The volume aims to fill this gap by studying dynamic processes in the lexicon – understood in a wide sense as not being necessarily limited to the word level – by bringing together approaches directed to morphological productivity as well as approaches analyzing general types of lexical innovation and the role of discourse-related factors. The papers deal with ongoing changes as well as with historical processes of change in different languages and reflect on patterns and specific subtypes of lexical innovation as well as on their external conditions and the speakers’ motivations for innovating. Moreover, the diffusion and conventionalization of innovations will be addressed. In this way, the volume contributes to understanding the complex interplay of structural, cognitive and functional factors in the lexicon as a highly dynamic domain.
