Jahrhunderts, 4 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Lessing hat stets versucht, seine Fabeln von denen anderer Dichter, speziell den französischen, wie Charles Batteux oder Antoine Houdart de La Motte abzugrenzen.1 Dies geschah nicht durch die Auswahl der Erzählstoffe, sondern auf formaler Ebene. Er distanziert sich in seiner theoretischen Schrift " Abhandlungen über die Fabel" von der damaligen Mode, Fabeln auszuschmücken und kunstreich zu gestalten.2 Ein herausragender Vertreter dieses Stils ist Jean de La Fontaine, der nicht nur in Frankreich zahlreiche Nachahmer fand. Gegen ihn und v. a. gegen seine Imitatoren richtet sich Lessings Kritik in den " Abhandlungen über die Fabel". Hier fasst er seine Fabeltheorien zusammen und steckt die Grenzen zu benachbarten Gattungen ab. Diese Arbeit hat das Ziel, ausgewählte Fabeln Lessings zu interpretieren und zu prüfen, ob sie die in den "Abhandlungen" erstellten Kriterien erfüllen. Dabei sollen aber nicht Ähnlichkeiten oder Abweichungen von Fabeln anderer Autoren gezeigt werden, obwohl die Bewertung von Kollegen einen beträchtlichen Teil der genannten theoretischen Texte ausmacht. Das Herausstellen von epochentypischen Elementen oder die Einordnung in das Lessingsche Gesamtwerk gehört ebenfalls nicht zum Thema der Arbeit. Anstatt umfassender Interpretationen soll das Wichtigste der jeweiligen Fabeln herausgearbeitet werden. Ist jedoch ein Element der "Abhandlungen" in mehreren Fabeln hervorstechend, muss es dementsprechend mehrmals ausführlich dargestellt werden. Andererseits können auch manche Aspekte zu kurz kommen, weil sie eine vergleichsweise geringe Rolle spielen. [...]
