O Programa Letramento Multimídia Estatístico - LeME tem como estratégia pedagógica o desenvolvimento de Projetos de Aprendizagem Estatísticos. Esta obra foi escrita com a finalidade de inspirar a implantação da Tecnologia Social e Educacional LeME, bem como de viabilizar a compreensão de como desenvolver um Projeto de Aprendizagem Estatístico – PAE. Por meio de metáforas náuticas e de uma linguagem acessível, buscamos estabelecer uma conversa com os leitores estudantes e professores, a fim de subsidiar a realização da interdisciplinaridade, da intradisciplinaridade, e do protagonismo discente, entre outros princípios de um PAE. Nesse sentido, esta obra visa ser uma Carta Náutica (plano de ensino/plano de aprendizagem), guia de uma expedição LeME. Algumas rotas (sugestões de encaminhamentos, de orientação do processo de aprendizagem) são propostas para o desenvolvimento de um PAE, com vistas à construção do Letramento Estatístico. O LeMe tem ocorrido formalmente nos últimos anos, tendo sido eleito o melhor Projeto de Letramento Estatístico do mundo (Best Cooperative Project Awards), no ano de 2019, prêmio este outorgado pela International Association for Statistical Education (IASE).

Low Reynolds number aerodynamics is important to a number of natural and man-made flyers. Birds, bats, and insects have been of interest to biologists for years, and active study in the aerospace engineering community, motivated by interest in micro air vehicles (MAVs), has been increasing rapidly. The primary focus of this book is the aerodynamics associated with fixed and flapping wings. The book consider both biological flyers and MAVs, including a summary of the scaling laws-which relate the aerodynamics and flight characteristics to a flyer's sizing on the basis of simple geometric and dynamics analyses, structural flexibility, laminar-turbulent transition, airfoil shapes, and unsteady flapping wing aerodynamics. The interplay between flapping kinematics and key dimensionless parameters such as the Reynolds number, Strouhal number, and reduced frequency is highlighted. The various unsteady lift enhancement mechanisms are also addressed, including leading-edge vortex, rapid pitch-up and rotational circulation, wake capture, and clap-and-fling.
