This was originally a series of emails written to my family and friends as I taught and traveled throughout Egypt, Southeast Africa, and parts of Thailand over a sixteen-year period. Also included are my thoughts and recollections upon hearing the news of the President John F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., assassinations, and how I processed that information as a child. Then, the entire volume is interspersed with some of the funny things I heard my students say during my thirty-one years in academia. This paperback is expected to be followed, eventually, by a hardcover edition that will contain 200+ photographs. Meanwhile, I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I enjoyed writing it.
