"El Libro blanco de la accesibilidad se estructura en una serie de capítulos en los que, a modo de fichas, se estudian la mejora de la accesibilidad y la supresión de barreras arquitectónicas. Es el resultado de una iniciativa del Comité Olímpico Internacional y la Fundació Barcelona Olímpica destinada a analizar la accesibilidad de los Juegos Olímpicos y Paralímpicos celebrados en Barcelona en 1992. En la presente edición en lengua castellana muchas de las situaciones analizadas giran en torno al evento olímpico; pero la mayor parte de ellas tienen también aplicación directa en el diseño de espacios y edificios laborales y en el trazado y mejora de polígonos industriales. El objeto de esta obra es ayudar a arquitectos, ingenieros y proyectistas a concebir espacios, entornos y servicios en los que la vida social y laboral se desarrolle con la menor cantidad posible de obstáculos. Los edificios, instalaciones y mobiliario proyectados de este modo no sólo resultan más amigables y transitables para las personas con discapacidad física, sensorial o psíquica permanente, sino también para las personas mayores, para las que presentan una reducción temporal de movilidad o percepción y para todos sus usuarios en general. Se trata, en definitiva, de una obra de interés para diseñadores, ergónomos, técnicos de prevención, direcciones de I+D y departamentos de obras y proyectos de las empresas" -- Iniciativa Digital Politècnica.
