Oder haben auch Sie sich schon einmal gefragt, ob man nicht mit anderen Formen politischer Partizipation dem Klimawandel, der Umweltverschmutzung und sozialen Missständen wie der Ausbeutung von Arbeitskräften viel besser "den Kampf ansagen" kann? Im Folgenden möchte ich Ihnen einen Vorschlag unterbreiten, dem es in jeder Hinsicht lohnt mehr als nur einen Gedanken zu widmen: den Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability, kurz: LOHAS. Sie haben noch nie von diesem Trend gehört? Das ist kein Wunder! Nicht umsonst beschreibt Paul Ray, der "Entdecker" dieser neuen Subkultur, die LOHAS folgendermaßen: "The Cultural Creatives are a coherent subculture - except for one thing: they are missing self-awareness as a whole people: [...] they are like a nation that emerged overnight" . Und die amerikanische Autorin Patricia Aburdene stellt in ihrem Buch "Megatrends 2010" die LOHAS-Ökonomie als "the biggest market you never heard of" vor. Wer also sind diese LOHAS? Dies möchte ich Ihnen in dieser Arbeit vorstellen und weiter auf meine Forschungsfrage eingehen, die da lautet "Was kann der Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability in seiner Eigenschaft als politische Konsumform zur politischen Partizipation in Deutschland beitragen?" Meine These dazu ist folgende: Ich gehe davon aus, dass der Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability in den nächsten Jahren als Trend und Subkultur immer mehr an Bedeutung gewinnen wird. Dies, so vermute ich weiter, wird die Wirtschaft nach und nach in ökologischer und sozialer Weise positiv verändern, so dass mit Blick auf die LOHAS von einer wirkungsvollen Weise politischer Partizipation gesprochen werden kann, die zu langfristigen wirtschaftlichen und politischen Veränderungen führen wird.

Es gibt nämlich solche Kunden, die nach dem genauen Hintergrund ihrer Geldanlage fragen. Eine solche Kundengruppe sind auch die hier behandelten Menschen, die dem Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability (LOHAS) folgen. Wie der Name schon sagt, spielt das Schlagwort Nachhaltigkeit in diesem Zusammenhang eine herausragende Rolle. Daher werden wir uns zunächst mit diesem Themenkomplex beschäftigen und nach der Bedeutung für die LOHAS-Kundengruppe fragen. Darüber hinaus werden wir das sozial-ökologische Bankenwesen und die neuesten Trends im Bereich der Kommunikationskanäle näher in den Blick nehmen. In einem weiteren Schritt werden diese Betrachtungen durch die Ergebnisse einer von uns durchgeführten empirischen Erhebung überprüft und angereichert. In diesem Bereich legen wir besonderen Wert auf den Inhalt und die Art und Weise eines Dialogs mit der LOHAS-Kundengruppe. Abschließend werden wir aus den gewonnenen Erkenntnissen Handlungsempfehlungen für ein sozial-ökologisches Spezialinstitut ableiten, die die Hauptcharakteristika eines am LOHAS ausgerichteten Kundendialogkonzepts verdeutlichen und ein Anwendungsbeispiel enthalten.
