In 1964 She was the daughter of a wealthy rice merchant. He was an orphan, a writer who penned stories told to coolies at Boat Quay. Everything was going against them, but they were in love. And till an untimely death did they part. A tragic end. 1993 29-year-old author Ted Wong was a publishing phenomenon, prospering from writing by churning out literary trash. Then an accident occurs… Enigmatic Beryl Tham slams into his life. So real yet so unreal, so cynical yet so romantic, so sad yet so beautiful, she seemed like an uncompleted story from a previous life, begging for a second chance. Using every ounce of his literary skill, Ted desperately tries to steer this story from its tragic end. After a near-death experience, successful author Ted Wong decides to write a story about the woman who drove her car into him. Before long, he finds himself inextricably drawn into the story, using every ounce of his literary skill to steer the story away from its tragic end. But why should he bother when she has nothing he wants in a woman. Why should she bother when he has nothing she wants in a man? Perhaps the explanation lies in their previous lives. Perhaps we are all repaying a karmic debt when we fall hopelessly in love.

The Japanese poet-recluse Ryokan (1758–1831) is one of the most beloved figures of Asian literature, renowned for his beautiful verse, exquisite calligraphy, and eccentric character. Deceptively simple, Ryokan's poems transcend artifice, presenting spontaneous expressions of pure Zen spirit. Like his contemporary Thoreau, Ryokan celebrates nature and the natural life, but his poems touch the whole range of human experience: joy and sadness, pleasure and pain, enlightenment and illusion, love and loneliness. This collection of translations reflects the full spectrum of Ryokan's spiritual and poetic vision, including Japanese haiku, longer folk songs, and Chinese-style verse. Fifteen ink paintings by Koshi no Sengai (1895–1958) complement these translations and beautifully depict the spirit of this famous poet.

Andrew Marvell's Liminal Lyrics: The Space Between is an interdisciplinary study of the major lyric poems of seventeenth-century British metaphysical poet Andrew Marvell. The poet and his work have generally proven enigmatic to scholars because both refuse to fit into normal categories and expectations. This study invites Marvell readers to view the poet and some of his representative lyrics in the context of the anthropological concept of liminality as developed by Victor Turner and enriched by Arnold Van Gennep, Jacques Lacan, and other observers of the in-between aspects of experience. The approach differs from previous attempts to "explain" Marvell in that it allows multidisciplinary and multi-media contexts in a broad matrix of the areas of experience and representation that defy boundaries, that blur the line at which entrance becomes exit. This study acknowledges that the poems discussed, and, by implication, the entire corpus of Marvell's work and the life that produced it, derive from a refusal to draw a definite divide. In analyzing a small selection of Marvell's life and lyrics as explorations of various realms of liminality in word and image, readers can see a passageway to the poet's works that never really reaches a destination; instead, the unlimited possibilities of the journey remain. Thus, the in-between aspects of the poet and his poetry actually define his technique as well as his brilliance.

DEWDROPS: HEARTICAL POETRY (English & Jamaican Patwa) is a skillfully crafted reader-friendly, anthology of 52 "heartical" poems: each poem opens a window into the heart and soul of the poet and takes the reader along a meandering path of true-to-life emotional experiences; love and loss; joy and pain; happiness and grief; but with every dewdrop, hope and inspiration rise and lift the spirit higher. Grippingly imaginative, this is poetry through which one is able to draw personal meanings beyond the creative outflow of each poem. From the poems conveniently presented in five chapters (18 Patwa and 34 English), readers are at liberty to feast randomly, subject to one's mood or peruse chapter by chapter, starting with any chapter. A glossary of the intriguing and colourful Jamaican Patwa, is a value-added inclusion; it should prove helpful to visitors to JamRock. Dewdrops: Heartical Poetry, like the morning dew, is a fresh approach to the metaphorical use of "dewdrops"; let it refresh your mind, stir your spirit and move your soul. The Author The Author, KAREN "The Bryck Rose" MORRISON, formerly K Vibes on the Reggae scene, is a gifted international Reggae recording artiste. Adi Shankaracharya composed a number of Vedantic works for imparting the knowledge of the Self. One of these hymns is the famous “Bhaja Govindam”. ‘Bhaja’ literally means ‘seek’, ‘Govindam’ means ‘the Lord’ – ‘the Truth’. The learned masters, out of deep compassion try to wake up humanity. They invite us to open our eyes to a higher dimension of living. The whole text of Bhaja Govindam in essence means ‘Wake up, seek the Lord, and stop seeking the primitive and superficial things in life.’ The compilation of thoughts presented in this book is applicable to one and all. Swami Sukhabodhananda in his unique style explains the verses with deep clarity and understanding.
