A selection of dreamlike illustrations inhabited by warm characters for which short stories are created. The illustrators then draw new images inspired by the written stories. A year later, the Anexus is published, where some of the texts are interwoven. It contains 30 original illustrations and the themes dealt with dance around music, dreams and ecology. This book has had a long and original process of creation. It was born with Blanca and Arturo's illustrations, some of which are several years old. When the storyteller Pepín contemplates them, he has the idea of creating a short story for each one of them. To do this, it is necessary to immerse oneself in these worlds and become intimate with the characters so that they can tell us their names and other aspects of their lives. Slowly, unconnected details emerge until, finally, they fit together and a short story is born. For the layout, the illustrators create front and back covers and new images, some inspired by the written stories. Finally, a year later, when there is already trust, two characters ask Pepín to continue their story and the Anexus is born: a text where some of these stories are intertwined. This book - or graphic novel? - contains 32 original illustrations and the themes dealt with dance around music, dreams and ecology. We invite you to browse through these images calmly and, before reading the texts, to imagine your own stories. Thank you!

The subject of the posthuman, of what it means to be or to cease to be human, is emerging as a shared point of debate at large in the natural and social sciences and the humanities. This volume asks what classical learning can bring to the table of posthuman studies, assembling chapters that explore how exactly the human self of Greek and Latin literature understands its own relation to animals, monsters, objects, cyborgs and robotic devices. With its widely diverse habitat of heterogeneous bodies, minds, and selves, classical literature again and again blurs the boundaries between the human and the non-human; not to equate and confound the human with its other, but playfully to highlight difference and hybridity, as an invitation to appraise the animal, monstrous or mechanical/machinic parts lodged within humans. This comprehensive collection unites contributors from across the globe, each delving into a different classical text or narrative and its configuration of human subjectivity-how human selves relate to other entities around them. For students and scholars of classical literature and the posthuman, this book is a first point of reference.

Steinbeck S Imaginarium written by Robert DeMott and has been published by University of New Mexico Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-11-15 with Literary Criticism categories.

In Steinbeck’s Imaginarium, Robert DeMott delves into the imaginative, creative, and sometimes neglected aspects of John Steinbeck’s writing. DeMott positions Steinbeck as a prophetic voice for today as much as he was for the Depression-era 1930s as the essays explore the often unknown or unacknowledged elements of Steinbeck’s artistic career that deserve closer attention. He writes about the determining scientific influences, such as quantum physics and ecology, in Cannery Row and considers Steinbeck’s addiction to writing through the lens of the extensive, obsessive full-length journals that he kept while writing three of his best-known novels—The Grapes of Wrath, The Wayward Bus, and East of Eden. DeMott insists that these monumental works of fiction all comprise important statements on his creative process and his theory of fiction writing. DeMott further blends his personal experience as a lifelong angler with a reading of several neglected fishing episodes in Steinbeck’s work. Collectively, the chapters illuminate John Steinbeck as a fully conscious, self-aware, literate, experimental novelist whose talents will continue to warrant study and admiration for years to come.

IMAGINARIUM: SIGHTINGS, GALLERIES, SIGHTLINES, A. Robert Lee’s latest collection of poetry, turns on two connecting keynotes: imagination and sight. Across a broad canvas each of its sequences explores the ways we go about imagining as much as seeing reality. Sightings, which opens the book, turns upon a dozen or so celebrated paintings, among them J.M.W. Turner and Frida Kahlo. Galleriesextends the usual meaning of the term to include vantage-points like a French archeological cave, a Bosphorus Straits crossing and a Tokyo station. Sightlines frames a run of personal encounters within the heights and widths of buildings and landscapes – whether different Metro stations, or a major Japanese waterfall or Memphis’s Beale Street. IMAGINARIUM explores yet other kinds of seeing, including poems that use bird flight as metaphors of imagination, airplane travel and its larger meanings of self-journey, Science Fiction film and the envisioning of other worlds, a roster of US photography, and imagination itself as a process to be imagined. In sum the reader is invited into a two-way exchange, imagination as seeing, seeing as imagination.
