Esta tesis examina cómo las representaciones testimoniales de eventos traumáticos están intrínsecamente fundidas con cuestiones propias del espacio político-temporal desde el cual son articuladas. La distancia temporal con respecto al evento traumático referido y la evolución de trauma que experimenta el autor/víctima determinan la constelación de silencios, lagunas y ausencias contenidos en toda representación testimonial. Así, esta tesis estudia tres textos de índole testimonial dentro de su particular momento histórico de producción y teniendo en cuenta el lapso de tiempo transcurrido desde la ocurrencia del evento traumático para definir tres puntos temporales: el durante, el justo después y el mucho después. El primer capítulo analiza el durante de la dictadura chilena a través del poemario Purgatorio de Raúl Zurita, en el que el autor reacciona ante al evento traumático al tiempo que es confrontado por él: Zurita escribe durante la primera instancia del trauma. Este poemario es simbólico y referencial; revela un sujeto herido y abrumado. El segundo capítulo analiza el justo después a través del testimonio Memorias del calabozo, en el que Mauricio Rosencof y Eleuterio Fernández Huidobro recuerdan su experiencia de la dictadura uruguaya poco después de concluir, en el tránsito hacia la democracia. Esta narración es coherente, tiene un propósito determinado y busca influir en la esfera política. El tercer capítulo estudia el mucho después a través de la novela Purgatorio de Tomás Eloy Martínez, en donde son recreadas las pérdidas y las ausencias de la dictadura argentina más de veinte años después de los acontecimientos, cuando la época traumática se concibe como un hecho concluido. Así, los tres textos analizados comparten temas como la censura y la desorientación, la locura y la esperanza, las pérdidas y las ausencias, temáticas que son tratadas y reveladas de maneras distintas, tanto a nivel de la forma como del contenido, según el momento de escritura relativo a la instancia del trauma. This thesis examines the inherent relation between testimonial respresentations of traumatic events, and the political and temporal context from which they are articulated. The temporal distance from the traumatic event that is described, and the stage of trauma that the author/victim exhibits determine a constellation of silences, lacunas, and absences present in all testimonial representations. Three texts -one testimonio and two texts which contain testimonial characteristics-, are studied against the historical context during which they were written, and in consideration of the time elapsed since the occurrence of the traumatic event. Three temporal perspectives are observed through the texts: the during, the right after, and the long after. The first chapter analyzes the during of the Chilean dictatorship through the book of poems Purgatorio by Raúl Zurita, in which the author reacts to the traumatic event as he is confronted by it: Zurita writes during andfrom the first instance of trauma. This text is highly symbolic and referential, revealing a subject whoe is wounded and overwhelmed. The second chapter analyzes the perspective of the right after in the testimonio Memorias del Calabozo (Memories of the Dungeon), in which Mauricio Rosencof and Eleuterio Fernández Huidobro remember their twelve year imprisonment during the dictatorship shortly after its conclusion, in the transition to democracy. This narration is direct and clear, written with a specific intention, and with the goal of influencing the political sphere of the time. The third chapter studies the long after in Tomás Eloy Martínez's novel, Purgatorio, which recreates the losses and the absences of the Argentine dictatorship more than twenty years after the fact, when this traumatic period is conceived as having concluded. These three texts share themes of censorship and disorientación, madness and hope, silences, losses and absences, which reveal themselves in the texts in different ways, in terms of both the form and the content, depending on the moment of writing relative to the instance of traumatizing event.

La violación de las más elementales reglas de la democracia y del estado de derecho, la tortura, la desaparición, el asesinato y las violaciones de género fueron prácticas corrientes de la historia de América Latina que vivió dictaduras cívico-militares en los años 70. Las transiciones políticas de los años 80-90 promovieron reformas institucionales para reforzar la democracia recuperada y procesos de justicia transicional en nombre de la verdad, memoria, justicia y reparación, las cuales se han tomado como modelo para el reciente proceso de paz en Colombia. El presente volumen recoge ensayos de estudiosos italianos y extranjeros que reconstruyen desde perpectivas socio-jurídicas estos procesos. Las formas de testimonio que se perfilan son obras diferentes de las de ‘literatura testimonial’ en el sentido estricto del término, porque surgen de las aulas judiciales y de los informes de las comisiones de verdad, y se imponen como verdades respaldadas por la actuación de la jurisprudencia, que las defiende de los asaltos del olvido y de la impunidad.
