It was one of the happiest days of the dove's life. He was sitting in his favorite oak tree in the sun enjoying a beautiful morning with friends. He flew to the next pasture to his favorite feeding spot where he was sure to find some tasty seeds for breakfast. Suddenly, in mid-air, something hit the dove hard. The next thing he knew, he was lying in the middle of a muddy horse corral, unable to move his body or wings or even lift his head. With the hillside full of coyotes, ranch cats, red-tailed hawks, and a corral of horses, he was lucky to be noticed by a horseshoer with a great big mustache who took him to his wife for help. The dove earned his name Little Brave Heart because he didn't give up. This brave dove had the heart and courage to accept help from caring people in a frightening situation. He tells the story of his life-changing experience and his amazing recovery in his own words. Praise for Little Brave Heart Tells His Story "Sue Roya's heart is as big as all outdoors and her story of the little injured dove is a glorious testament to the power of love and kindness. Little Brave Heart will grab your heart and never let go. An inspiring read for the entire family." -Bill Reynolds, Publisher, Ranch & Reata Magazine "A wonderful read sweet and tender reminding us once again the oneness of all things and that there is no separation." -Deborah Lee Davis, Author/Photographer, The Nature Of Woman

Fofo, a brave, little African girl, lives with her brothers and her strict aunt in the jungle. Fofo is tired of following her brothers around, and one day she decides to venture off by herself to swim in the natural pool at the foot of the mountain. As Fofo enjoys the refreshing spring water, she doesn’t realize she’s in danger. And then, on the bank, she hears the cry of an animal. She saves a baby lion being born, names him Angel, and carries the cub home. However, Fofo must give up the animal so it can be returned to the wild. That makes her sad and depressed. Her schoolwork suffers, and her grades drop. But her teachers help her get her spark back. This picture book for children delivers that message that it takes a village to raise a child. Through the love of Fofo’s family and friends, and especially her teachers, she’s able to find joy in her life again.

A collection of true, short stories based on the theme of courage. There is something for everyone in this little book. Designed to be enjoyed over a coffee, these bite-sized stories will take you on a journey into the lives of twelve women, all living in Australia.Collectively, we are offering our stories to you to read and enjoy, to reflect and to think about the power of the human spirit, about the ups, downs, and twists and turns that make up the rich tapestry of life. There is nothing more potent than your story. You are the curator of your own stories; you get to choose which ones to tell and with whom you will share those stories. But the most important story is the one we tell ourselves. Trust me, we all have stories worth sharing. From our hearts to yours. Here's what others say. The stories in Tales of Courage are ones of movement - and that's what courage is. Not getting stuck. Moving onwards. Gathering momentum and harnessing the brave. These stories are heart-warming, heartbreaking, funny, and insightful. They are stories of grit, determination, and a unique ability to go through life wearing different 'hats' while quietly giving the middle finger to the expectations of others. The characters portrayed come from various backgrounds and different times. All had trials and troubles to combat but each were victorious over them. It was God working in His mysterious and powerful ways to make them great examples and blessings to others. Exactly how this happened makes fascinating and soul-wrenching reading. These true stories offer a wonderful glimpse into the personal and intimate details of lives that have made a huge impact on the world. Men and women, although imperfect, learned to navigate life despite hardships. I loved reading how these individuals learned to hear the voice of God! Middle graders and up will be inspired as they come along side these sojourners and get a glimpse into their spiritual journeys. —Diane Dow Suire, Educator, Writer, Editor This was really a good book! I totally enjoyed reading it. “Seven True Stories to Inspire” is an excellent witness of God’s perfect plan. —Ansonia McIntire, Student, Age 15 These inspiring stories remind me that happiness can always be found, even in dark times. You just have to remember to turn on the light. —Larry McJunkin, Author In “Seven True Stories to Inspire” Joyce Wold does an amazing job of taking historical facts and weaving a story for young minds to be inspired by faith. I recommend her book for young readers to understand how faith is molded out of fortitude and “true grit” from true life stories. —Dr. Charlie Barnard, Pastor, First Baptist Church of Tellico Village, TN

Reading the World’s Stories is volume 5 in the Bridges to Understanding series of annotated international youth literature bibliographies sponsored by the United States Board on Books for Young People. USBBY is the United States chapter of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY), a Switzerland-based nonprofit whose mission is bring books and children together. The series promotes sharing international children’s books as a way to facilitate intercultural understanding and meet new literary voices. This volume follows Children’s Books from Other Countries (1998), The World though Children’s Books (2002), Crossing Boundaries with Children’s Books (2006), and Bridges to Understanding: Envisioning the World through Children’s Books (2011) and acts as a companion book to the earlier titles. Centered around the theme of the importance of stories, the guide is a resource for discovering more recent global books that fit many reading tastes and educational needs for readers aged 0-18 years. Essays by storyteller Anne Pellowski, author Beverley Naidoo, and academic Marianne Martens offer a variety of perspectives on international youth literature. This latest installment in the series covers books published from 2010-2014 and includes English-language imports as well as translations of children’s and young adult literature first published outside of the United States. These books are supplemented by a smaller number of culturally appropriate books from the US to help fill in gaps from underrepresented countries. The organization of the guide is geographic by region and country. All of the more than 800 entries are recommended, and many of the books have won awards or achieved other recognition in their home countries. Forty children’s book experts wrote the annotations. The entries are indexed by author, translator, illustrator, title, and subject. Back matter also includes international book awards, important organizations and research collections, and a selected directory of publishers known for publishing books from other countries.
